I always thought DL was different from "in the closet." A good portion of gay people are or have been in the closet at some point. They're gay and choose to not be open about it to others. I thought a person on the DL was someone who does not identify as gay and who has public relationships with women and sexual relationships with men. They have no plan of coming out and are set on living there open life as a heterosexual person.

You have to realize is the bible was a collection of writings used by a culture in an age that had limited understanding. So they dealt with what they knew at the time. But now we know about cells, atoms, genetics, biology. You can't use something from an ancient time & try to apply it to the new century were there is more knowledge about how things function. Studies show sexual orientation is formed by adolescence without prior sexual contact and can't be voluntarily changed.

So there are different genetic pathways due to different sets of chromosome usage. Other studies show influence of hormonal environment in the uterus that affect the fetus. So yes, there are definitely different ways same sex attraction can develop before then. They usually find orientation locked by adolescence.
@spyyder976- The same could be said for bisexuals who have an attraction to both sexes due to mixing of certain collections of genes on the sex chromosomes. What they found was that there isn't one gene, or one pathway that defines orientation or a person's attractions. There are many different paths and not everyone utilize the same one. But that deal with attraction, not behavior. People often confuse the two.
I find this very confusing. You say you were not brought up in the church, yet you talk very church like, using the same terms & talking points. You say this is not about religion failing to realize God & Jesus is a religion- Christianity! You say you don't judge, yet you do by hiding behind 'God as Judge'. I can't understand how or why any man in his natural mind would want to show his ass out in public? Seems to me that this is some quiet way of saying to other dudes that you are down for sex with dudes. Its definately not a black male thing. I've had married white and latino men try to step out of marriage for a quick "nut". 90% of them have always had these thoughts but never acted on it. It's not a male thing, or a black thing. It's a human fact. You left out a very important factor in the "DL man/HIV increase" phenomenon, or theory, as I prefer to put it. That is, you urge women to protect themselves and you urge DL men to come out, but you do not urge [black] people to stop discriminating against and oppressing gay [black] people. The fact that our society is very homophobic is a big part of the reason people do not feel safe coming out. In fact, until the social climate becomes more accepting, I do not expect most gays to come out.

I always thought DL was different from "in the closet." A good portion of gay people are or have been in the closet at some point. They're gay and choose to not be open about it to others. I thought a person on the DL was someone who does not identify as gay and who has public relationships with women and sexual relationships with men. They have no plan of coming out and are set on living there open life as a heterosexual person.

You have to realize is the bible was a collection of writings used by a culture in an age that had limited understanding. So they dealt with what they knew at the time. But now we know about cells, atoms, genetics, biology. You can't use something from an ancient time & try to apply it to the new century were there is more knowledge about how things function. Studies show sexual orientation is formed by adolescence without prior sexual contact and can't be voluntarily changed.

@spyyder976-I don't doubt that.There are genetic studies that found certain types of chromosomes have identifiable markers which are found only in gay people. So there are different genetic pathways due to different sets of chromosome usage. Other studies show influence of hormonal environment in the uterus that affect the fetus. So yes, there are definitely different ways same sex attraction can develop before then. They usually find orientation locked by adolescence.

@spyyder976- The same could be said for bisexuals who have an attraction to both sexes due to mixing of certain collections of genes on the sex chromosomes. What they found was that there isn't one gene, or one pathway that defines orientation or a person's attractions. There are many different paths and not everyone utilize the same one. But that deal with attraction, not behavior. People often confuse the two.

I can't understand how or why any man in his natural mind would want to show his ass out in public? Seems to me that this is some quiet way of saying to other dudes that you are down for sex with dudes. Its definately not a black male thing. I've had married white and latino men try to step out of marriage for a quick "nut". 90% of them have always had these thoughts but never acted on it. Alot of them do it because its whats expected from them by their family or friends and they thought that being married with a woman and having kids would change them. Many of them are unhappy with their sex lives with women/wives so they go to other men for sex where the experience is TOTALLY different.
