Oh how I love this; my father would sing this to me when I was little, and we'd both end up crying --and then I'd say, "Sing it again, Daddy," and....he would.
You really do a wonderful Job the songs are all so awesome and bring back many memories some I had not heard before. Keep up the great work in memory of this great singer. This song is excellent cheers from New Zealand
I'm glad you like what I've posted EPFANNZ. Apart from being gifted with one of the most beautifully soulful voices, he also wrote many, many great songs. He also liked to give people their money's worth when he sang on stage. Marty was truly one of God's gifted.
There is NOT a bad song on this whole cd...and I'm surprised mine isn't worn out...I play it over and over....I have never heard anyone sing so beautifully than he does. I've been listening to him since 1955 when I was nine, heard that 'voice on the radio and fell in love with it. Been a fan ever since. There will never be anyone with a voice to match his beautiful voice.
Tarquin,if not for the undying dedication to Marty Robbins that you show, i for one, would never have heard most of his songs, i have loved Marty since i heard him for the very first time, but in our neck of the woods, his music is hard to come by, thanks for the time and effort that you put in ,i`m sure you bring a lot of joy to a lot of people. Thank You...and youtube.
To me, Marty was the greatest singer/songwriter that ever lived. Not only did he have such a beautiful voice, but his catalogue of such varied and great compositions are a joy to listen to.
The greatest song to come from the War between the States. I have always loved this song. Rememebr so many of the soldiers were too young to have wives or even girl friends. Notice in the song George Roote makes a reference to another of his songs 'Battle Cry of Freedom'
Hi there Tarquin! With this beautiful song of Marty I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and thank you for sharing all this great music with us.
Thanks for the music Brings back memories to this old man Ive seen a lot of changes in my lifetime But I think this is one of the best for us older folks to relive music from our time Never forget your roots
That's probably because it wasn't released in Marty's lifetime unfortunately. It first showed up on a German Bear Family album called 'Just Me And My Guitar.'
Marty is the best 4 sure ! Tnx for your time and effort in passing Marty along, in that young and old alike may find a new ear. James San Diego Ca.

Totally agree Bill. Not only could he sing any kind of song, but he could also write them as well.
A unique talent.
