i have been in lots of fights. these defense videos are nice to give u some idea of how to break a hold, however the reality of it is not so easy. it takes seconds before you are out cold. best advice is to avoid the fight. if you cannot do it, then you must fight to win. there is no such thing as a clean fight. if u are caught in a rear naked choke, reach back with both hands and put them on the attackers head. put your thumbs into both eyes, keep the pressure on & hope they let go.
If you grab the forearm of the choker and turn your body towards the attackers shoulder of that same arm the choke will not work. Then pulling down on the elbow of the attackers arm and bring his wrist up over your head you will be able to place him or her in a figure fore arm bar.
Master Lee, I understand. But how do you ground yourself for that counter taking into account the force of impact caused by the attack? The way the attacker has his arms locked would easily cause him to switch to a headlock the moment his choking arm would be dislodged from the hold. To prevent this from happening it would seem to me that you'd have to ground yourself first so that you can execute the counter in one swift move.
It is all in your stance and keeping your center of balance lower then theirs, and make yourself the cent of the universe everything flows away from your center. This is an exercise in Ki flow that makes your strength without physical.
Master Lee, excuse me for asking so many questions. But how can you keep your center lower than theirs if you don't know they're coming for you? An attack might be launched by someone who's center is naturally lower which would actually cause them to pull your balance off center resulting in a disturbance of your body alignment. I am asking you all this because I am currently studying the effect of these type of attacks on body mechanics and their counters.
First off if his arms are around your neck wouldn't that put his center of balance higher then yours? Widen your stance and you will be even lower, then project all of your energy into a circle around behind him and he will lose control of you as you gain control of his center. Now focus your energy to the ground and he will have to fallow it.
Master Lee, excuse me. You're right that his center might be higher than yours depending on the actual height difference. But if he's at that moment that he has his arm around your neck his momentum alone will throw you off. If you're attacked high it doesn't take much for that to happen (please observe my vid involving hair grab defenses).
Thank you for putting up these videos, and politely responding to all these, more than likely, American teenagers who try to "correct" you.
It seemed like the way my brother told me about how to break a choke hold when I was a kid, but more detailed about where my arms should be comparable to my body position. It a good video, and I hope nothing happens to this or any other because of disrespectful kids.
if this doesnt work effectively in a real situation.....the bicep is right up against the larynx and your going to have a real bad sore throat if not a crushed wind pipe
i dont like the idea of twisting my head into the choke. Anyone who is doing the choke is gona try and use brute force ti swing you back round into the original position.
Their goal isn't to inflict pain on each other for your amusement, it's to educate. If you don't feel like learning to defend yourselves then quiet yourselves for those who do.
If you just want to see violence type "people falling down stairs" into the search and laugh like idiots.
How did you get all that from me just being amused from the last bit of dialogue? I criticized neither the lesson, the technique, nor the instructor. You're being really paranoid and defensive for no reason while not knowing a lick about me... Reserve YOUR comments, PLEASE...!!!
I wasn't specifically talking to you, just every stupid comment I read. I couldn't tell if you just thought the "did i hurt ya" part was a lil funny (which I did too) or if you were an idiot.
People who look up holds and watch UFC seem to think they're experts, and it annoys me.
Understood... But what would you call someone who presumes or assumes, jumps to a conclusion, then directs it, or projects it on, someone s/he doesn't even know, or know about...?
There are about a thousand different ways to get out of this, and they're all in controlled environments like this. All are possible, but without being physically fit and prepared to use the move with only a second's notice, they're all worthless. This will work just as good as any Krav Maga technique or MMA technique, etc. but only if you've practiced it a LOT, and have enough discipline to remember it when the situation happens. This method is just as good, why all the hate?
Well, how about I come out and say this: your techniques in breaking a choke hold are interesting, and they open up a lot of different end results. Thank you for posting this video. :)
hey sir you made a mistake on your left side and your student or partner told you at first which direction he was going to choke you in by whispering it
I don't respect fakes. It's funny how you assume I'm a martial artist or even if I have training. I would never brag about my training like your'e some sort of expert. Its hard to respect a "teacher" who teaches unrealistic techneques. I doubt you have much experience and you sure don't look to be fit as a martial artist should be. Thats great example you set there sir.
NOt here to argue but to just explain something. reading his main page he studies ninjitsu (as do I, Bujinkan form). Ninjitsu is not about speed or power. It is about technique and using your opponents motion and balance against them by manipulating joints and key knowledge on how the body works. Fitness is not an issue in ninjitsu. Real martial artists shouldn't be closed minded and should learn from each other. Granted the technique here is off but the motion and idea is correct.
Considering you know it all! I can not teach someone senior to me and would not try to. If you are so smart why don't you make your own video? I am sure someone smarter then you will help correct your videos for you.
Then please feel free to explain what happens when you hold your breath to long? Why don't you make some videos on how to escape the sleeper hold and a choke hold from behind. This will be very informative. I'm sorry but if someone chokes you from behind their elbow in on your chest pointing down. I doubt your credability sir. Exaggerating is not the way of the martial artis or that of someone who teaches self defense.
I am not your teacher and your respect is not showing, very typical for an american martial artist. You want things you don't deserve and ask for things you will use without proper instructions. Go to a school and learn from the beginning and finish at the end if respect is not part of your training how will you respect the life that will be in your hands, that is not good martial arts.
I know your full of it. I hope you never get choked for you and your students sake. I doubt you could performe this "secret" release from a choke hold while under pressure. You couldn't even perform a simple but yet unrealistic technique without hesitating and there being no stress. Have I made my point yet?
Your technique is practical but unrealistic. In your demonstraion you hesitated when you switched direction of the choke hold. Lets see you do that under pressure. Why don't you please fill us in on your very easy way out of a choke hold on the e-net? Self defense is no secret!
(1) If you don't tighten your neck it will take longer for a person to choke you. (2) That will give you more time to get out of the hold. (3) The one I will not teach on the youtube format is so deadly and painful I don't want people to practice it with someone to be in control. (4) I am a teacher of self-defense I do not teach people who are stupid enough to practice it on others just to see what will happen.
You obviously have not been in a full choke (like the one your partner attempts to put you in) Go ahead and try it so you know what I'm saying to you. NO you don't choke yourself it helps you from being choked and keeps your blood circulating in your neck. Tucking the chin means pulling down on thier elbow and tucking your chin inside there arm. It's not imposible.
If you are stating obvious things maybe you should know the differences between a choke hold and a sleeper hold. A choke hold is a way to block the breathing. A sleeper blocks the blood flow to the brain. And you are not alone with that misconseption many think they are the same. As to me ever having someone choke me, many have tried and many have gone to the hospital to recover. I don't play with what I know.
RIGHT SO YOU CHOKE YOURSELF? By putting your chin down you make it harder for you to breath. But the thing I don't want to cover is there is a very easy way to get out of a choke hold, but I don't dare to teach it over the internet.
your right, he did fuck up at 1:05, if that were real the kid could have, yea tripped him, or broken the hold and gotten a preemptive strike...Yeah this one seems flawed, unless your expecting it, this wouldn't work.
How do you know it works? Looks like it would only work against a very compliant training partner. Try it again against someone who is coming at you full speed, and with the intent to actually knock you out.
you do make a very valid point valclav. I thought this too but these techniques are just that, techniques. A tool to use. this kind of technique can be applied in many ways. You need to know the basics before u can try the actual application of the move which is what many forget
