  • using something like a credit card, drivers licence, someting straight and hard enough... Can I use my pen!s?

  • @Kenji314159 ...you can probably use your penis because it's probably the same size as a credit card i.e. very small and extremely thin. Good luck!

  • @superbura9 Dude, I was 5 when I penetrated your mom the last time. I can come to your family again so you can see how it has grown in the past 15 years.

  • Way to much paste ..and that looks nothing like a Core 2 duo or even a Quad core. You shouldn't post video's like this unless you're a professional. I happen to know.

  • @mattmga If you are using a newer processor I would recomend that you follow the directions provided by AS5 as they are going to be optimal. This video was made for the application of AS5 on an older Intel P4 proc which at that time used this method. Apparently people are still having an issue grasping the fact that this video was not created when we got dual and quad cor proc.

  • Ubertiny, I read the comments here after the fact, and spread the AS5 out over my processor. Should I clean off and start over, or does it make that big a difference?

  • DO NOT apply thermal with a credit card ffs :S It can cause airbubbles

  • @2009RaisedFist You do realize this video was done with an Intel P4 processor and back at that time it was actually the process done in spreding the thermal paste across the proc. Do your research before commenting.

  • you can apply thermal like 10 different ways. it all does the same thing. isnt a best way to do it

  • 1. not all new CPUs have the pin-less design, amd possessors still use pins

    2. this is the absolute worst way to put thermal paste on a cpu, only put a small dab in the center of it and use the force of the heatsink to force the paste in a outward direction, this method will have air bubbles in between the heatsink and the cpu which i bad for it

  • You try to learn us, lol men remove this wrong stuff...

  • take down this video....its wrong....wrong method...u will have only air bubbles in there.

  • Something Straight and Hard.....

    THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID~!

  • @marki271 fuck man i was just about to type the same comment but i saw u wrote it xD

  • too much noob

  • Another way to do it WRONG.

    THIS WAY IS WRONG

hope i dont hurt your feelings but Most ppl do it the wrong way.

which is THIS .. this is the wrong way to do it and create Bubbles.

why ppl insist this is the Correct way ?

i just dont get it. this way is WRONG. WATCH OUT !

  • @Morongotongo123 why dont you tell us the right way geez.

  • OP turns out to be the only white dude who frequents Red Lobster.

  • @josh86051

On the site they say for Quad Cores to use the "BB" or "pea" method. I just get a bit nervous about the heat sink spreading it evenly.

  • Personally, I would recommend spreading it just shy of the outer edges. The pressure from placing your heatsink should spread any excess compound to the edges.

  • you do it like this if you want airbubbles so yeah way to go!!!

  • HAHA 1:45 I thought it said, "Video on placing ASS on your CPU."

  • haha typo's are funny

  • @nexus1g

That's a completely different kind of video nexus lol

  • 'Newer CPU's don't have pins'? That's only newer Intel CPUs - AMDs do have pins. Also that's a bit thick that paste - it should really be transparent since it's only really to fill in the microscopic imperfections on the surfaces. Using too much reduces thermal conductivity to the heatsink.

  • Don't be an ass - you make a video and see how many people hate you

  • where do you buy arctic silver 5?

  • Newegg.

  • try buying it at any computer store

i just bought mine at NCIX

theres one in Richmond and Vancouver - if your in Canada

  • @tc6492 RADIO SHACK

  • One thing's for sure, it works well. It's brought the temps. on my AMD XP2600 Barton down by about 3-4ºc. I'd recommend Akasa TIM CPU and Heatsink cleaner for cleaning the Heatsink and CPU die thoroughly before applying AS5.

  • The AS website says to not spread it. Just put a line across. It will spread on its own.

  • very bad..

i can see AS5 all over the edges of your cpu.. never apply AS5 like this.. AS5 will conduct electricity. So if you get in weird places like the edges or slightly under the processor you will short out something !!!

use a finger and a plastic bag..

    Works the best !!

  • actually no..arctic silver 5 does not conduct electricity. Its just very slightly capacitive. Look on the website if you dont believe me.

  • yea I thought thats what they claim is it has bits of metal in it..? Did I read something wrong?

Also spread method can cause air pockets.

  • it has silver in it. it probably won't do much, but it can.

its why I like mx-2; no curing, no conductivity issues

  • Comment removed

  • Seems like a touch, a touch too much!

  • Horrible, go to their website and see how to do it, professionally...not drowing lines on ur cpu with thermal paste lololol

  • I'm just so confused by you, yes I've read all the replies and yes I realise you acknowledged that you used too much in the video. But why keep that image in the video? I'm obviously watching this because I want to get it right when I do it, how is it helpful to me to see what too much looks like?

  • If the guy telling you how much to use and explaining the picture shows too much is not enough for you to understand then maybe you are too fucking stupid. The video is ok otherswise. The guy made amistake that he points out so you don't do it. For a person of even modest IQ that is enough... Why don;t you show us the right way instead of knocking other people. What an ass hole...

  • You only need to put a VERY thin line of this stuff on dual/quad intels and a SMALL drop in the middle of AMD dual/quads. And you dont need to apply it, when you put your heatsink back on you can just that as the applicator to coat the heatspreader.

Then go celebrate at Red Lobster XD

  • thanks for this

  • What about a Radeon x1950xt? The thermal grease or whatever burnt up before, now I need to replace it (all crumbly) I'm assuming the instructions are similar, but the amount is the same as well?

  • you can use it for videocards too, yust use a similiar amount in comparison to the size of your gpu block

  • The website says just make a line of paste on the CPU and put the heatsink on top of it. It will spread out on its own, you don't need to smear it. Is this way of doing it effective?

  • Hey, very good. Have you read any of the previous replies to this video. It has been mentioned many times that this is in fact an older way of doing this. Try reading next time.

  • @ubertiny That was a little harsh, don't you think?

  • @Dan4157 No way in hell. You MUST spread it so no part of the chip touches the heatsink.

  • woo you go - tear him up >:O

  • would a 97% rubbing alcohol work to clean? and how can i tell if i put too much or too little?

  • yea o.O; - you cna even use 99% (never heard of 97%) the less residual it is the better - i used 50% on two cpus and they work fine..

  • why did you still post the vido when you put too much artic paste, fucking noob!

  • PWNED!!!!!

  • "Place a SMALL amount of AS5 on top of your CPU"

*video shows globs of compound spread on the CPU*

    ROFL

  • do you also have to put any on the heat sink?

  • nah; it will get there.

  • If your CPU is in your mobo you increase the chance of damaging other components when applying the paste and secondly he said himself that a small dab in the middle will do, was it necessary to point out what the man had already pointed out?

  • iamcutekitty is right just a thin line for multiple cores

  • will a ymca card work as well as a credit card or drivers license

  • lol

  • hahahaha

  • wow, sounds like he loves his job.

  • haha thats priceless put a little arctice silver on the processor and he put like half the tube on the cpu

  • I like... totally agree with you there breh. Your voice is just so unbelievably lush.

  • i <3 your voice.

  • Thanks for the vid, very good

  • I LIKE SEA FOOD.

    Lol.

  • what heppens if u put to much

  • try on you pc and tell us lol

  • i reach 80 celsius

  • There is two possible conclusions.

Result would not be as good.

The CPU gets very, very hot, and may burn out.

  • k ty

  • well i just put liek an entire tube of the generic shit on, and i'm running at 27 degrees celcius on an amd opteron 185 (best processor for socket 939).

  • thermal compound can goop over the edges onto the motherboard etc. and really mess things up... especially if conductive.

  • I use Cool Silver its does a lot better job cooling my CPU.

  • I thought it was all hype, but I am running about 5 deg cooler with cool silver instead of AS

  • does it have to be a red lobster gift card or can I use my chili's gift card?

  • lol...

  • A++++ would lul again

  • it's not a credit card and you seem to laugh at that like it's a bad thing to use one. Your an odd individual aren't you?

  • yes at first I did put way to much. That is admitted in the video. You did listen to the video....right?

  • Do i need to wait until the thermal paste is dry to play games? Please reply.

  • no, you don't need to

  • i have white arctic thing... is it ok ?

  • i think the most important part of this video is:

the red lobster gift card =]

  • i love your voice

  • lol I thought it said this is a little " 'how to' on placing ASS on your CPU"

  • LOLZ!!! OMG OMG !!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • Actually, you do not need to spread the AS5 on your CPU, unless you do not have a heat spreader, which the one in the example does. You just need a dot in the middle for single core, and like rgs4627 said, a vertical line for dual core. A little will go a long way, and then you are supposed to slightly rotate your heat sink on it to spread it out all you need.

  • Many people have many different ways. I feel that all of them are very useful and if you really look at it, they all work to. Like you said a little goes a long ways. To much holds in heat, to little causes the heat to not transfer properly.

  • The Arctic Silver website says spreading it around yourself will set in air bubble- not good. Applying just a dot and rotating the heat sink will apply enough and will spread it out adequately. The only thing actually making heat is a little tiny square under the heatsink about an eighth of the actual heat spreader surface.

  • i spred and get 80 celsius

  • dual core u must put a line through it...find it on articsilver website...if u put a dab in center of dual core cpu it will fry

  • lmao nice vid

  • RED LOBSTER FTW!!!

  • thanx... finally a vid that uses a modern cpu...
