  • @qaqawqaqaw

Hello :)) I would rather use this folded ribbon rose for a hair clip. If you look on this channel you will find the folded ribbon rose.

I will add a photo on my blog tomorrow to show you what the hair clips look like. If you visit my website: dicraft.co.za tomorrow(Tuesday) look under "read my blog". Enjoy yourself!

  • Di, thank u for responding to my query.i have yet another one, please bear with me. how can i get your new book 'roses in silk and organza ribbon'? i can't wait to get a copy in my hands. Im in kerala,India. do u have any distributors or stockists here? OR, can i buy it online? kindly help..

  • @ambanethiar Thanks for your query..sure I will help :)) My new book: Roses in silk and organza ribbon will be out in June/July this year. I will send a message as soon as it is on the shelves. It will be available online from my website or from amazon and other online book stores. Take care and keep in touch :)

  • Oh my gosh! That looks SOO COOL!!

Wish I can make something as beautiful as that! :D

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • this seems easy on the video, but when i tried it a number of times it did not come out perfect. especially while twirling and pulling the needle under the fabric. what is the trick? please help..

  • @ambanethiar When you twirl the ribbon, twirl gently until the ribbon is rolled up. Hold the ribbon while you insert needle into the fabric. Twirl the ribbon (which is on top of your work) again with your fingertips and gently pull the needle to the back. I have taken some photographs of this technique which I will add to my new blog soon. If you go to my website: dicraft.co.za and subscribe to my newsletter, I will notify you when the photos have been uploaded. I am sure they will help :)

  • @ambanethiar yeah same here

  • @vrbhaskar1 Thank you for your kind feedback :)) To see how to "tie the ribbon to the needle" have a look on my Facebook page by searching on Facebook for Di van Niekerk's silk ribbon embroidery. In the PHOTOS album, you will find the stitches album, and the close-up photographs are there. Enjoy your weekend!

  • THAT IS SO BEAUTIFULLY DONE!

  • beautiful...

  • beautiful work. also you have a very calming, mysterious voice. you should narrate children's books. :)

  • @thirstbasket :)))

  • @thirstbasket Just stumbled upon her videos....and I have to agree. Her voice is very unique and quite marketable. She would have absolutely no problem getting voice over work in cartoons, anime, documentaries, book narration, etc =)

  • Do y ou have a suggestion of making these fabulous rosebuds to use on cards or scrapbooks? I would hope there would be a way to sew or clip from what you are using on youtube to make them. they are so beautiful! i am glad I found this site!!!!!

  • @Angela55ish When making roses for paper crafts, I would stitch onto a sheer fabric such as organza. Place the organza fabric in a small hoop, and embroider the rose or roses. Once complete, cut out a square of fabric and stitch it or glue it onto the paper. I am busy writing a new book on Romantic Roses where I will show many new ideas for roses :)) Enjoy your weekend.

  • Thank you for sharing! :)

  • Does anyone know if this will work even with something like a cotton shirt? I want to try but I'm worried that the ribbon would be to thick and then destroy my shirt.

  • formidable pour acquérir la technique de la broderie au ruban !

  • I don't even do textiles but that was pretty sweet!!

  • can you do this with a bit thicker ribbons? that is, wider sizes?

  • that was fandidlytastic :)

  • Wonderful video! Thank you so much for sharing it! I have a question: can I make this in any fabric or it should be the one with bigger weaving?? Please let me know! Thanks in advance!

  • Hi, thanks for writing. You could use any fabric that will allow the needle through it. If it is a tightly woven fabric, use a larger needle so that as the needle and ribbon are pulled through to the back, the hole will be large enough for the ribbon to pass through without damaging it. If using a delicate fabric such as a silky voile, it is sometimes better to use two layers of fabric to support the roses. Enjoy!
