John Adams doesn't get the recognition he deserves. His role in our independence was no less substantial than the other primary founding fathers (wash, Jeff and frank).
It is a shameful display of hypocritical self-deceit that our Founding Fathers fought so hard to give us the freedoms and the rule of the people in a true Republic by throwing off the Aristocracy of England. And what have we done? We have simply replaced it with elite wealthy that are essentially Aristocrats without titles of Duke or Earl. We have become what we fought so hard to eliminate.
Great closing scene of the series: John and Abigail atop a rocky, snow-swept hill. As they embrace, a famous Adams quote is narrated:
"No, Prosperity, you will never know how much it cost to preserve your freedom. I hope you make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven half the pains I took to preserve it."
With the signing of "health care reform," I would think Mr. Adams, wherever he is, is clearing his throat.
@mmyford Shut the fuck up. You have no idea what he would say about health care reform. And to be honest, Presidential Adams would probably have passed it - he was a bit tyrannical. I mean, he did pass the Sedition Act.
@mmyford I seriously doubt it. I love you people that try to preach from your partisan pulpits and try to drag centuries-old historical figures into modern arguments. How convenient for you that they can't be here to say what they really think rather than what you assume about their ideals. Partisan political parties are going to be the death of America. Washington warned of it and how it ruined the governments of Europe. BRAINWASHED PECKERHEADS!!! GROUPTHINK IS THE MARK OF ABJECT IDIOCY

We are on our way to losing this Republic if we do not educate our very own on How and Why it was founded... Education starts at home.

This series was great, to say the least!! Too bad we can't keep the Republic they tried to create and defend.

One of my favourite actors, playing my favourite president.
He is so sexy, with his scruffy beard, nerd glasses, and voice.
