  • Bullshit, for protectiveness, arai helmets are not as protective as some of the other helmets on the market, for example most AGV helmets retailing at around £160+ will give a protection of about 4 to 5 stars whereas, most arai helmets priced at £250-£300+ will only give 3 stars protection. Testing performed courtesy of the UK government Sharp Helmet safety scheme.

  • True, Arai makes a great, safe helmet...as does Shoei which is a slightly more affordable option, and equally as proven and safe! If you want a really affordable, safe helmet...that actually out performs the Shoei, and Arai helmets in Sharp testing, get a Shark! I have an Arai off road helmet, and a couple Shoei street helmets, and a Shark RSR2, and the shark scored better on the Sharp testing than the others.

  • now that's one tough lid

  • Fuck that was impressive, Im glad i have an Arai!

  • Had a crash with an old one Arai QUANTUM and it saved my life. Now got new bike and got myself a new RX7 RR5

  • all i know is i watch a lot of TT, bsb and motogp and the biggest guys wear Arai, AGV and Shoei helmets. i see them crash tested at INSANE speeds all the time so those brands are good enough for me. I got a gp AGV helmet and sometimes i wonder if i was stupid not to get a arai, how much is my brain reallllly worth to me... a couple hundred extra? youre fucking right it is... il get one for next season!

  • i got my helmet from ebay brand new from a retailer called ghost bikes

great discounted helmets and they look the part

i paid 30 quid for a nitro helmet.

  • @sweetyamahar1 you paid £30 for a crash helmet? You clearly dont like your life

  • An RX-7 saved my life.

  • its great that my favorite helmet company has the same name as my last name.

  • What he should also talk about, but won't, is that not everyone has an "arai head". You can get a perfectly sized helmet for your head, but... NEWSFLASH... not everyone has the same shape head. Some have longer or more oval or rounder or friggen caveman foreheads, and so a cheap Scorpion 700 may fit FAR FAR better than a very expensive Arai helmet. The manufacturer won't tell you though that an Arai may simply not be the right shape for your particular head.

  • CRAP... apparently my brain already suffered damage, as I replied to the wrong MCN vid, lol!!!!

  • Yeah, that's why you try on a helmet before you buy it, you dumbass. also, have you seen how easily cheaper plastic helmets break during motorcycle helmet testings? There's a reason why Arai is so famous for their quality workmanship. If you think that your head isn't worth $250.00, then it probably isn't.

  • Yes, you do, but the point is that arai helmets don't fit better, they fit different. Other cheaper helmets can be MUCH more comfortable depending on your head shape. The other point is about the G-forces imparted on the brain by using two hard of shells. Do you understand? And $250 for an Arai? Are you brain damaged? LOL! The average Arai fullface costs over $500.

  • some of the new ones from arai are almost 500 bucks, but you can buy a arai helmet at online shops at around 300 bucks or less. And there are many options varying for head comfort as well.

  • Arai have different lines and they all fit differently. Check their website for info. They have three different helmet ovals. So try all of their helmets before you bash them for shape. Cause they do atleast try to make the best, most comfortable, best fitting helmets for EVERYONE

  • @DumbDuck44 Depends on model and paint job. I believe my first Profile went for 350ish while my RX7 cost me well over 700. In all honestly 700 is a drop in the bucket compared to major neurological surgery.

  • @pinespeakz Yes it is, but its not a drop in the bucket when $250 ECE helmets are outperforming the M2005 $700 helmets with lower G-forces in tests in survivable accidents.

That was my point.... at least I think it was, damn this is an old video.

  • ok and what does your extra 850 of your money go that makes your helmet more safer than a standard one,, most helmets are worth £10 then they get graphics and go in the shop for about £80 - £90 thats in the UK tho should Imagen its the same everywhere

  • impressive helmet. anything tougher than this? ....except the kevlar army helmet of course.

  • if car drives on helmet it doesn't broke..

  • hey let the fatter guy try :)

  • Ha,ha,ha...

    Nice idea..

  • What a crappy video. A person can stand on the shell... how does that prove it can withstand a person headbutting a wall at 30mph while wearing it?

  • That's not the only thing that makes the helmet, it's one of the components.

  • I know. My point is that 150lbs at 0mph is nothing compared to 150lbs at 30mph.

  • no helmet will save your head if it hits a "wall" over 13mph

so when you come off ya bike be sure your head doesn't slam anything first,

an don't spend more than 150 on it coz the 1000 helmets are no safer ;p

  • You sure about that? I've seen many people who can run faster than 13mph survive smacking a head into a wall with no helmet at all.

  • well thats a diff factor all together, like

im sure if a though a brick at your face you'll still make dumb comments on youtube ....

  • You're the one that said no helmet would save someone in a collision over 13mph. After I proved you wrong, I'm the one making dumb comments?

Also, throwing (not throughing) a brick at my face would make me more likely to make a dumb comment because I'd have a concussion. This is not a "diff factor all together," and neither is my implication that if someone survives without a helmet, they're certain to survive with a helmet.

    You lose. QED.

  • fuck off, we're talking about riding bikes not running about with helmets on like you; ya cunt

  • No, we're talking about helmets. That's what this video is about. Furthermore, 13mph on a bike or 13mph on foot is the same thing. I've lost count now of how many times I've destroyed your shitty arguments. Just give up.

  • clearly for you this is about whos got the last right word,, how sad,

ill leave you to it, and try not to get too enraged with frustration,

    tut tut tut ' prick!

  • i'm sure crash100 meant that no manufacturer can garauntee a helmet above 13/15mph, you may survive you may not, they cannot garauntee =)

  • Of course there is no guarantee. Nevertheless, certifying a helmet for 15mph collisions is nigh pointless.

  • exactly =) =D and now we can go away and ride our bikes without arguing hehe :D

  • Its probably worth noting that the extremely hard maens it absorbs less energy in an impact and is why they perform so badly in the UK gov imact tests. The design and structure is now 25 years old with no developement and are not as good as the media zombies let you know. But then the dumb mugs try to justify the huge cost by saying ..arai is the best, arai is the best. 25 years ago GPz900 Ninja was a great bike...would I ride one now ..no chance.

  • ya. well i deal with arai helmets on a daily basis. i have heard word of in a GP race a dude wearing an arai took a spill and another racer ran ofer his helmet and there was a snapshot taken with dudes racebike on top of bros arai helmet.. i hear nothing but good about these helmets..

  • He kinda looked alittle worried there.

  • Totally misleading. Hardness is totally different to strength. By standing on the helmet they are demonstrating shell strength, not hardness. Hardness is tested by pressing a known size into the surface using a known weight, then measuring the size of the indent

If you're gonna do these video's at least get your terminolgy correct

  • someones been doin their homework on material and their properties

  • @GuyGraham34 Your spot on in saying hardness and strength are different and that they tested strength, but I wouldn't call it totally misleading because strength is what counts in a helmet, so the test was valid. The dude just got his terminology a little mixed up.

  • @GuyGraham34

I understand your concerns about the terminology in this video, but are you also trying to say that Arai does not make great helmets?

  • Only 15 stone... I thought more...!
