The secret ballot issue is a ruse. Business interests support Save Our Secret Ballots, and they aren't doing it for the sake of workers. The motivation for the EFCA is that business has many ways to block the "secret" balloting from ever happening. The EFCA is pro-labor/pro-union. The SOSB is using tactics much like the anti-gay movement, pushing States to require secret ballots for union votes.
And just where is anti-union sentiment the strongest? Way down south in the land of cotton of course! The same place where a agy is most at risk. Same tactics you say? I say, same audience.
I haven't seen the info compiled, but from my ragged assembly of the pieces as I've come across them, it appears those southern states w/ foreign auto plants are giving them huge tax breaks. From other sources, it also appears those same states pay negative federal taxes, i.e., they get more $ from the federal coffers than they pay in. If that info is accurate, that amounts to you and I, and members of the UAW, subsidizing those southern plants so they can undercut the Big 3. That's f**ked up.
I lived down there and they have a hatred of Unions that goes almost as deep as their hatred of "Damn Yankees".
And Yes, they have always sucked up way more in tax expenditures than they have put into the federal coffers. How is this possible? Because they will continue to elect the same cooter for decades and since seniority determines leadership of appropriation committees...well, you get the picture.
I wonder if we "Yankees" will ever get a thank you card for the TVA system? NAAAAAH
Nah - that doesn't even make up for the terrorism of Sherman.
It's way beyond my understanding that those in the poorest region of the country are completely committed to the ideology of the Republican party - an ideology that assures them they will remain poor and exploited. But, at the same time, I recognize that clinging illogically to ideology is not inconsistent with life in the Babble baylt.
While I am on your side, where in the video did you hear the statment that workers dont need healthcare?
I know its been said by republicans, what if a worker doesnt want healthcare, like anybody doesnt want healthcare. If you can afford to take care of health bills yourself, you likely arent in a job that would need a union.
I just wanted to hear who said it in this video. For a laugh at least.
