It's terrible when it's windy! It's so scary! You can feel the arch swaying back & forth!:p but all in all, the arch is really cool! You can get some neat pics of the city at the top!
Ahhh St Louis, the city where a man from Hawaii (me) met a girl from Delaware. The Arch was where it kicked off our relationship. As they say the rest is history ;)
The trick is to get there early. The family went there on July 3rd this year. Got there about 10am. It was pretty packed then. By noon the line to buy tickets were all the way on the other side of the room (near the main gift shop) and it was a mad house.
If you get there when it opens, it should be easy going.
I've never had the benefit of seeing this modern marvel in person, but I just found out this monument celebrates its 44th birthday on June 10th. Guess what tomorrow is? Happy 44th Birthday, Gateway Arch!
omg why does this thing rock back and forth when going diagonally. i wasn't in that car when i was there. also there used to be music when going up or down in both trams. one of them still does
I got lightheaded just looking up at the arch from the base. There was no way in hell i was going to the top. lol, but it was cool. went there 2 days ago
Darn my family was there to our trip to Indiana to meet Aunts and Uncles but the wait to go up the Arch was 2 hours and we didn't have enough time! :( Oh well I took good pictures.
Oh my god. I rode to the top of the arch yesterday and I was freaking out about the ride up there. The little capsule/pod thing you ride up and down in is tiny! I was feeling soooo cluster phobic in there. But when I got to the top, it was definitely worth it. The views are amazing. And I could feel it swaying. Do visit if you go to St. Louis.
I am telling you guys this was fun ! I am a big traveler and I visited the Gateway Arch about a week ago... it is not really that big as you think it is ... But anyways the elevator ride is pretty cool ! Not that much luxury, but it is cool ! At the top, where the observation deck and stuff is, there are windows on each side ... The only thing I didn't like is that the windows were not that big enough ... But it is awesome ! You have to go visit it if you travel to St. Louis !!
I think it may help with your claustrophobia. I was told that, but I never been on it. Now I can't because I don't live in St. Louis anymore, but I think it might help. So, your smart.
