2 intercity trains (well locomotives anyway)-old and new, majestic and ugly, historical and modern, an experience to ride, normal day occurance...sorry i am sounding like the go compare adverts.
i actually remember seeing the oliver cromwell at bressingham, as they had 'custody' for a while and I`ve got a picture of me (aged 3) with my uncle stood in the cab - something i still remember to this day
Excellent video and audio, brings back memories from when i used to live in Lichfield Rd, Mile end and the main line used to run across the bottom of our garden on a viaduct.
Yes filled up via fire engine tanker and pipe over platform 4. Lively departure from Colchester up the bank, the footage doesnt do it justice im afraid.
@jarog0 last year Tangmere was planning (on the return journey) to fill up at Colchester but it couldnt as it was fouling a signal (apparantly). The length of the train was approximatly 260 meters-normal commuter trains on that route are up to 240 meters (almost), Also, how it can be fouling a signal when, at more than 600 meters Colchester has the longest platform in the UK?
that shot was the bosss!!!!!!! oliver cromwell is mi favourite loco

Lovely locomotive-But why did they name an engine after him? He was NOT nice to choristers in the cathedrals!

Nice footage! Did the loco fill up with water at Colchester? I know that other steam locos have done in the past. Lovely loco on home metals!
