Really feeling my old school uk hiphop at the moment. There is a lot of shit out there but when you hear something good like this it makes all the searching worthwile.
i beg someone put up the original version, of "SERVICE.........". i still have the original, as a demo on a tape. proper killer beat, by ROUGHNECK SCOUT. SCOUT was a don at beatmaking, and i was fortunate enough, to hear numerous instrumentals (actually, SCOUT went to my school, too).
@mark777775643 <the ZOMBIE HEADHUNTERS were a production team, that were down with HIJACK/ H.Q.. the original members were THE ICEPICK (being the emcee), ROUGHNECK SCOUT, and DJ. ASSASSIN. in BRIXTON/ CLAPHAM, south LONDON, many, including myself (from hearing numerous ROUGHNECK SCOUT productions) believed that he was as good as, if not better than DJ. SUPREME (HIJACK), at beatmaking.
@insanemacbeth - thanks for the reply, i've seen the name credited on tracks. did the icepick record any tracks for them? if so they need to be heard.
i got a copy of your retardation lp - you got some nice beats on there!
@mark777775643 <THE ICEPICK had a demo, which was produced by THE ZOMBIE HEADHEATERS, called "JUDGED INSANE". i have the demo, on tape. this track was made in 1989. THE ZOMBIE HEADHUNTERS only had the two "SERVICE WITH A SMILE (the original version, on the "DIARY OF A BLACK MAN" album, was very sikk), and the scond B.R.O.T.H.E.R. track, that was ever released. but i've heard, maybe 100 ROUGHNECK SCOUT instrumentals. all this happened, around 1990-1.
@insanemacbeth - thanks for sharing your knowledge - shame they never got pass the demo stage with the icepick and recorded more tracks with a proper release. the lp version of this and the b.r.o.t.h.e.r track were classic productions, great use of the dirty harry beats. would love to hear that judged insane track.
@mark777775643 <to continue, you have a white label copy of "RETARDATION"? if so, wow. there were only 150, pressed. i did release "TRUE HEART", off my album. there are still black, and limited edition special red vinyl copies of INSANE MACBETH f/ THE 'LEGENDARY' ICEPICK: "TRUE HEART", b/ w "JUDGEMENT FREESTYLE" available.
@insanemacbeth - yeah, managed to find a copy a couple years back, got it cheap to - £14 very pleased i found one, hard record to turn up. also have the true heart 12 & the kinetic effect 12's. all quality uk productions!
@mark777775643 <bro, firstly, bless for supporting INSANE RECORDINGS. i hope you enjoyed what i released, and can only respect you for purchasing my product. secondly, i had a meeting with BIONIC of LONDON POSSE, a few years back. we did speak on collab-ing, but he also said, that he's moved in a different direction, creatively. i will defo have product out on INSANE RECORDINGS soon, though.
@mark777775643 <one last thing. bless, for the compliment, still. also, i you check out my myspace & twitter, you'll see i'm working on some new projects.
@insanemacbeth - i will check them out. good luck with your projects. would be good if you could team up with some of the london legends again, the hard uk rap needs resurrecting!
@insanemacbeth I'd second that. Remember "I'll Do You Somethin'" --- Also, remember I almost wore down that Judged Insane track ... still know lines from that to this day. You've heard 100 of their instrumentals? Damn! I always wanted to hear the one with the character from Return of the Jedi you told me about.
