whomever put this together, Saville/Suede? I LOVE/ADORE yer brain. Most folks tend to put the music, if you can call it that, of bon jovi with Orson Welles and make a terrible fuckun' mess....this however is a classic illustration of how beautiful some folks minds are....cheers and bless yer heart, thanks for uploading.
this video was put into "may not be suitable for minors" catergory..if thats the case then there is thousands more freely available videos that should be put under the same catagory, but i doubt that will happen..i love her work.
I disagree, I dont think that Jenny's work is about how women are treated in society. I see her paintings being about how women treat themselves. Society only indirectly influences her work.
We are all brainwashed with what gender roles are-it is up to us to find alternatives-no matter how difficult it is. I applaud people like The DifferAnt and Kagemusha22 for recognizing this and doing something about it! Bravo guys! Love Saville's work too! She depicts real women.
Course, but we're brainwashed into alot of things, from religion, to believing into flowing system of society. (when in reality it's just a load of people conforming to a small group who lead)... To ultimately, being told to listen to bad music like MCR, Justin Timberlake or Beyonce.... (damn MTV! xD )
I would hurt myself before I'd do anything cruel to a woman. It's totaly against everything I stand for to be a womanizer. What gets on my nervs the most is being compaired to the abusers when I've struggled all my life to not be like them. There have been alot of people over the past 12 years or so that have tried to pin that on me just because I'm a man and that doesn't go down too smooth. So be careful when pointing a finger. You might be pointing at someone who feels the same.
I know what you mean. I personally have very little stereotypes of what a Gender 'should be', I get angry when I hear that say the man in a relationship doesn't do any housework or cooking, leaving his girlfriend/wife to do it all (I always think what a lazy cunt that person must be) or trys to take authority over his partner. Whilst abusers are just weak people, who can't recognise all of us as individuals, and who've taken the male stereotype of Macho-ism to heart.
I personally find this set-image of what a an average man and woman is, that's pushed into our faces by the likes of TV adverts, Gender-specific-magazines, etc. just revolting. It encourages women to a role of subserviance, and men to a very aggressive image of competitiveness, emotional detachment and that they supposedly take charge all the while. They're extremely conservative views, yet we all seem to accept this rubbish as just a part of life.
I find those Gender-stereotypes repugnant. So I kind of find solace in Metrosexuality, which brings the idea of Gender to a more androgynous persepective. It also proves that gender-differences are mostly set by the society you live in.(i.e. like "Mean are from Mars, Women are from Venus" that kind of bullshit)
Wonderful artwork Kagemusha. I think it's a travisty also how some factions of society treat women. You have to realize that some people aren't like that though. A large part of the more popular 80's music Gun's and Roses, Motley Crue and stuff were part of that abusive faction. I got my teeth knocked out trying to defend my girlfriend from one in 88. Bands like Tears for Fears were the exact opposite. They preached equality and treating a woman as the love of your life. Not like a toy.
hi!
Good:)
