i am an american who wasn't able to get a job (currently i am too ill for working). but when i was looking i tried a doggy day-care (which i would have loved doing) and restaurants, nursing homes and hotels, all entry-level stuff, and was unable to get any of them.

Insofar as filling the farm labor work, I'd make it available to the legally present population. If there are no takers, those farmers better mechanize like their counterparts in China. I'm a Latina. While I do feel tremedously for the immigrants coming in because they do have it rough, I see what Americans are trying to say. Americans losing the jobs to Latinos is the fault of the people hiring. Companies move down to Latin America because it is cheaper for them, but this is wrong because they are just exploiting these people. what happens is that the consumer gets a better deal on the good they are buying, the places they are sleeping, the homes they are living in. The American public saves more money in the long run allowing you to either spend or save more. I was born and raised in the US, I and all my friends picked berries, worked in diners, assembled toys in a local factory, worked in motel jobs and all such entry level jobs. NO jobs Americans won't do, as long as Minimum Wage is paid. But the fact is illegals do many skilled blue-collar type jobs paying more than most college-grad teachers get. Plus many own their own businesses []construction, home improvement, auto repair, landscaping, janitorial services, roofing, paving, etc.], employing other illegals, so they have an unfair competitive advantage over legal businesses. The next time you're in Home Depot or Lowes, look for illegals getting supplies for jobs.

What the real problem is is our gov't. There are so many taxes on businesses for their employees that they are leaving our country in droves simply to avoid paying twice what they pay their employees. Obama wants to further increase taxes and make this problem for businesses worse.
Paying employees with cash, illegal or American, is against a federal law. SS is going under and UEI is just a scam. I will never collect either, but the gov't sure as hell will!

We simply need to secure the border to stop illegals from crossings. There are too many here now and any more will cost us all jobs and cause wage erosion. Sending them back does no good with a porous border. Obama is wrong on taxes and the border.

Every american will do a job, the issue gets to be pay. People have doing labor jobs, arigucultural job, maids, resturant etc for years, so that argument doesnt fly. The problem is that because they are illegally in the country, it hampers their ability to move up the chain thereby opening up jobs for the next group of people who are working their way up. This is not new to america. People have worked their way up and moved on.

Insofar as filling the farm labor work, I'd make it available to the legally present population. If there are no takers, those farmers better mechanize like their counterparts in China. If, for some reason, that can't be done here (which, of course, it can), we create extra visas for southeast Asians and mainland Chinese.

I asked her to list them and she mentioned field work which, admittedly, I've never seen an American perform. So I told her "At best we need 1 to 2 percent of the illegals currently here." I think that's looking at her claims in the most favorable light. That isn't my opinion, however. I don't see a need for even one person to be here unlawfully.

A friend of ours happens to own a landscaping business and he is Hispanic. But him and his family live here legally, and he also says how frustrated he is and he might loose his business which he needs to support his wife and 3 kids, due to the fact that illegals take jobs away from him. I blame our government for allowing this to continue and it will continue so long as the companies that make money off the illegals continue to line their pockets....

Ask those questions to the Hotel managers and owners they will give you a good answer.
If there are no Mexicans or others there, it's because the job market is not very ample so there is no need for outside labor. Also, in those rural areas, young people aren't afraid of work, they are still willing to do manual labor whereas in California and or Arizona you can't get a white person to do a $ 22 dollar manual labor job. I worked at Basha's dist. center, whites didn't last 1 week.

I'm a Latina. While I do feel tremedously for the immigrants coming in because they do have it rough, I see what Americans are trying to say. Companies move down to Latin America because it is cheaper for them, but this is wrong because they are just exploiting these people. When fellow americans, black/white come in for help with cloths or bills or christmas gifts that the family service league hand out. They are truly not treated equally as the all latino workers at the family service league show tward the latino people that come in to that family service league.
The latino workers there treat the non latino people as if they should not be there at all, they give all the good cloths to the latinos, they give them all the great xmas gifts to the latino families.

That's a lie i've been hearing for years now. Americans have been doing those jobs for decades upon decades, we built our own country. We will work, everyone looks down on american workers IN AMERICA! we even get looked down on by some of the spanish people here in NY.
It's true, it's like we're the immergrants now. Here there is a family service league, and NOW there's nothing but spanish women and men working most of the time there, and they surely show favourtism twards the spanish people.

this video is completely pointless...all the people working these " jobs" look like uneducated people. People who may have not even graduated High School in the first place. aka WHITE TRASH. So when Americans say " Illigal aliens are taking our jobs" i dont think a typical American could even survive off the wages that these trashy, low class hotels offer.

Yes inmigrants are taking our jobs.
In my job there were seven Americans that they were working on my shop, all were fire up and were substituted for three Mexicans.
Now the production is improved, the cost are about 50% less, in general the productivity is better, due that the company was not going out of business.
In this company there are about 15 more employees ( all are Americans), but the owner is talking about of hire more Latinos.

what happens is that the consumer gets a better deal on the good they are buying, the places they are sleeping, the homes they are living in. The American public saves more money in the long run allowing you to either spend or save more. I have a better idea for you and those on the video, get an education, make something of yourself and do better than the generation that gave birth to you. That is after all, the American dream. Let someone else who is starting to dream begin where you left off.
