  • hm, i'm going to make that for my family tonight, thats why i saw this video :)

  • The carrot sweetened the sauce I just made (my tomatoes have also been on the counter for 2 days). I used a little onion too, and I'm telling you, this is the best sauce I've ever tasted.

  • yep

  • where possible i also use fresh tomato in my sauce. its more tangy in flavor and does not have the metallic taste of canned tomatoes. i add a tablespoon of sugar not so much for sweetness but to chemically make the taste bud receptors more active and thus act as a flavor enhancer sounds like bullshit but its food science.

  • I agree with ck360. If you have the time and the fresh tomatoes let them sit awhile after you pick them about 3-5 days and they will become naturally sweet.

  • that's a hell of a job.crushing the tomatose while simmering it.why didnt she just crushed it all after boiling it?

  • The only problem with this is that is alot cheaper to buy a ready made tomato sauce than to buy all these ingreadients seperately IMO.

  • I will definitely include this in our culinary experience this summer at the Floon athenaeum in Brooklyn. Depending on enrollment/budget, we may include Mia Dona, as part of our dining experience.

  • Mascarpone is a great sweetener as well.

  • thx... for sharing your recipe it looks great im going try it.

  • That carrot is not going to sweetin the sauce at all. You go to ad puree, a bit of cream or use sweeter tomatos or all three.
