my bad- original version by Alexandra, 1967. Long way for a song to go. Still, each version is a lovely piece of music and soul. Matt's voice beats Sinatra's every day of the week.
Looks so much like my father...Matt is a truly great singer. Some of these photos could be him. @1:45 and all of them. Wish he could've stayed for this big party. xx
the song that never die.......it planted to the hearts of everybody.....love this song..the lyrics itself gives a full meaning to our generation now a days. hope that they will value the song of yesterday...than today.......................
What great photos you have found of the very best singer we have ever produced, and such a lovely down to earth man, in a league of his own, sadly missed. Many thanks for posting.
UNBELIEVABLE VOICE!! I can't seem to get enough of Matt Monro!!! I am ashamed to say I recently learned of him, but I will never stop listening to his music now!! I am obsessing on him!! I absolutely love his voice. I put him up there and sometime above Sinatra!
Matt was not a profesional singer that long. Had he been found sooner, or lived longer, who knows? The same is true of Bobby Darin, and, to an extent, Nat King Cole. I am not sure of the others. I have heard people do a good job copying Sinatra and Elvis's voice, but never Nat King Cole or Matt Monro's.
Matt has that 'special' sound. A distinctive voice that's intrisically woven into our culture from the 1950's onwards. Coupled with some of the great songwiters, lyricists, and composers of our time - incl. George Martin, Don Black, John Barry - Matt Moro performed some of the seminal timeless classics that will be around forever. Thank you Matt Monro!
written by Udo Jürgens an Austrian songwriter and dedicated to Frank Sinatra... And Sammy Davis Jr. used this song at the end of every Concert until the end.... What a great song, performed by great Matt Monroe...
BillDFC -- Frank had a lot more years to live. If Frank is your favorite, I respect that. These posts are not facts, after all -- they are opinions. In my opinion, a singing bus driver that makes it to the top later in life than Frank due to connections, and dies prematurely, with a voice like none other (IMO), Matt Monro, beats out Frank Sinatra. But, I do respect your opinion as much as mine.
wonderful ,a singers singer and song .I am just watching a programme about Matt on BBC4 (AGAIN!) Just been on his web-site and his second wife died a few weeks ago ,very sad .
Im with you all the way frank just does not have the same quality to his voice as matt.
I should be too young to be a matt monro fan (37) but i dont care as im a very proud matt monro fan he even has the fairy tale story to go with his music.
I find Monro's voice to be more pleasurable to listen to than Sinatra's. Monro's voice has a smooth warmth where Sinatra's is clinical and cold. In my opinion.
Ok Guys...im portuguese (meaning neutral) and i honestly belive Matt Monro had a great voice. He was a very good singer and in my opinion in the same league of Andy Williams, Vic Damone, Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis and Bobby Darin. He was second only to Sinatra, Bing Crosby and Elvis, not because of his vocal skills but because he didn't got so many hit songs to record.
He sure was a great singer, over here in England he was known as the 'singing milkman' simply because he had the vocal technique to be as popular as sammy, frank, dean, Nat King Cole however I dont think you could say he was in their league.
I think that people see him in the next catagory below, I mean Bing Crosby sold a lot more records than 100 million...I think he is the second largest artist after Michael Jackson!
What I would give to be able to see Matt Monro in concert? His voice made you proud to be British..... Without doubt the best British male singer ever.
go fuck yourself horseshite...which im sure you don't have to sense you have midget boys fuck you in the arse on a regular basis while your cranked up watching horse porn and tied up to a bed in a motel 6. fuck you
I used to sing when I was young, in the early 60's. and had a "career" until 73. To me. Mat Monro will always be among the " greats " like Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Steve Lawrence, Tony Bennett. He had such a beautiful voice and smooth style. I like all of his songs !
thanks for this wonderful share Sofia, with no doupt i agree with you,he is one of the greatests for me,wonderful singer with so great voice,he always made songs with special tast.

The original version is called Tu eşti primăvara mea, sung by Andreescu and composed earlyer in 1973 by Florin Bogardo. Credits where they are due.

@FRANKY231182 , From Russia with Love was sung on the James Bond soundtrack by Matt Monro. Then, there was Born Free. I am sure there were others.

To my ear, Frank spoke more than sang. Matt sings! I have ranked him above Frank since 1966, when Walk Away was released.

To The Swing Singer
We must remember he sold 100 million records.
I bought 1 in 1969 in spanish.
My point is we didn't have those mps, casettes , any portable players,
not even 8 track in cars around the world .
limited tv also.
Matts was big in South America and the world.
So people didn't buy more ,no place to play it
I think he did beatiful and well recognized.
