Good video and facts well presented. However there is a downside, much of what is posted is just noise, and endless clutter. Social media is time consuming and often the time would be better spent building real networks instead of virtual ones.
Social Network is getting better and better as time passes. I found an example for it at ofaabee.com . It is similar to other social network but has new feel. I like it . May be you also...
Interesting facts but now how the hell do you get noticed amongst all of those billions of words and pictures, a drop in the ocean. It still boils down to the same thing. If you're creating content you want people to find you care about Google rankings; you should also produce and post video. It shows up here AND it shows up in Google results.
Most of the digital natives that these statistics are about have not even seen this video...just saying it's a little dramatic. Also using fear as a motivator to "encourage" businesses to engage the online community is like telling a fat girl that dress shopping with prom queens is really fun. We should be teaching people how to engage not overwhelming them with anxiety about their (lack of) involvement.
I think the people who made this have a very self serving business agenda. It indeed has distorted and false facts. The big picture seems correct and the planet will be changing in new ways because of all this communication technology.
Plus side- Revolution by good people who are not included in their countries economic system.

I dislike how quick this video was, it is information overload. I know you (THE AUTHORS) might not want to take a trade off of video dynamicism/excitement vs. how well information is taken in but I REALLY disliked having to pause the video so much. 6. Here's a good one- how r products going to find me via social media? I'm assuming that the products that r finding me are ones that I actually am looking for, not merely more spam. Spam isn't exactly revolutionary.
5. IMO, listening to what people have to say about your brand can be beneficial because you find out how you can better cater to your customers, though this doesn't apply to every company - depends on customer demographic and their level of SM activity.
6. I think the idea of products finding people is possible given that facebook has information on your interests, banks and mobile companies have info on purchase history so they can better predict your needs and make suggestions.
If everyone at that company were facebooking and texting and social media-ing like a wildfire won't make a whit of difference.
3. I don't see any correlation between being tech savy and being able to perform any sort of damage control. People are going to say what they want and noone is listening.

I dislike how quick this video was, it is information overload. I know you (THE AUTHORS) might not want to take a trade off of video dynamicism/excitement vs. how well information is taken in but I REALLY disliked having to pause the video so much. Don't get me wrong I'm not old or anything just an average-slow reader

@ThePipinFonz If I had a bad experience at say Walmart and I had my Yelp or foursquare app open I could tag myself at the said store. I could almost instantaneously badmouth the store for treating me oh so wrong and people could see my tip or review when they go to look up places to go in the future.

I've passed this video on to all my networking groups. Awesome video. I'm an artist/painter and my husband and I left our corporate management jobs to run my art publishing business. If it weren't for social media, our business wouldn't be thriving as well as it is today. Yay, SM!

Interesting, but wikipedia is NOT very accurate. It's been proven time and time again, like the guy who did the experiment with that French composer who died. I've done several myself, and the bogus data is STILL to this day, three years later intact.

Socialnomics can socialsuckme. I agree not a fad, but these are borderline made up facts clearly targeted to sell a book. Social media is doomed to progress into a downward spiral of complete unreliability due to corporate and individual gree and manipulation. Basically, it's unfortunate companies can make money off social media because you know that greed will know no bounds.

5. "Do you like what (bloggers) are saying about your brand" What exactly does jumping on the social media bandwagon afford me to do about what people are saying about my brand? Please, be specific.
6. Here's a good one- how r products going to find me via social media? I'm assuming that the products that r finding me are ones that I actually am looking for, not merely more spam. Spam isn't exactly revolutionary.

5. IMO, listening to what people have to say about your brand can be beneficial because you find out how you can better cater to your customers, though this doesn't apply to every company - depends on customer demographic and their level of SM activity.
6. I think the idea of products finding people is possible given that facebook has information on your interests, banks and mobile companies have info on purchase history so they can better predict your needs and make suggestions.

If everyone at that company were facebooking and texting and social media-ing like a wildfire won't make a whit of difference.
3. I don't see any correlation between being tech savy and being able to perform any sort of damage control. People are going to say what they want and noone is listening.

1. Kindle, Wikipedia, and Google are social media? This promo would have us think so. If I am wrong, please explain.
2. "50% of the mobile internet traffic in the UK is for facebook.. imagine what this means for bad customer experiences" Is this suggesting that if you have a bad experience with a company or their products that there will be a wildfire of flame facebook posts? ...

2. Yeah i think that's the idea. People definitely trust what their friends say over what companies try to advertise so if a bunch of their friends are posting "this company sucks" on fb, they probably won't be willing to buy the products/services from that company.
