He didn't cast the first stone -- he begged for mercy, nor did he cut off the Roman's ear -- he healed it. Good point about the activist with the day job at IBM. I think most activists in our highly political culture don't even really represent the people they claim: they are just the people who make the most noise. These demagogues are to the detriment of all; by false representation they polarise groups of people far beyond any real justification, and entirely to their own political advantage.

Anyone who opposes free speech doesn't believe in democracy. Liberal Canada and people condone this??? Canadians are told what they can think? This has nothing to do with incitement of hate, it's a person's views and opinions that are on trial...literally. Might as well bring in the Canadian Shariah Law Comission. Homosexuals beware, you might be told your thoughts and views are legally frowned upon if a particular group complains. Get a lawyer and be ready to apologize, or be sued?? Wow!

Dawkins seems more like a God-hater than a genuine atheist. If Dawkins really believed what atheists supposedly believe, he should just put his feet up with a bottle of scotch and just enjoy himself as he waits for his death and his consumption by worms so he can fertilize the grass. Getting his blood pressure up over people believing in God all seems rather futile, if atheism is true. But perhaps it isn't?

Ezra, God bless you and protect you. You are our hero along with Mark Steyn and his amazing book "America Alone". We all need to stand up to radical Islam. There is a wonderful video here in youtube by jpineda84 called "A Time for Choosing" That time is now. We can't keep backing up and bowing to these intolerant radicals out of fear. Before we know it, we will have them as masters. Is that what we want for our children?

Ezra, you are a hero! If you were to go to Iran, Pakistan, Jordan or Saudi and claim that you were offended by a moslem burning a Canadian or American flag, you could be crushed with cement walls. What gives these people the right to demand anything from our country. They left their own country to come here because of the oppression so why do they want to bestow oppression upon us? They need to assimilate and follow our way of life or go back.

When Ezra printed the cartoons he was exercising his democratic right to Freedom of the Press. Now he's in the ridiculous position of having to fight for that right on behalf of Canadians, a right we thought we already had. We cannot allow newcomers to take away our freedoms; people died for them. We wouldn't want to live in the kind of society we would have without them. If Muslims don't want freedom, there are other places they can go. But we will never give up our freedom. Never.

A few years ago I might have described myself as liberal. They have so digusted me though with the way they enable radical muslims that I have no choice but to swing to the right and hope for some reasonable thought there. I read Hirsi Ali's book about the mistreatment of women by muslim men... and she complains that no western women's group will come to her aid. Liberals seem to have such a lack of moral conviction they in fact empower the right.

So, what are "our boys" doing in Afghanistan...they are trying to bring them the same freedoms we have here, not to take our freedoms away to please the extremists we're fighting. Mohammad was a war-mongering psychopathic war lord, that's a historical fact and Moslem's celebrate this history. Moslem's don't deny that he married little girls before puberty. I think the cartoons should be published in every major newspaper because freedom of speech is keystone for all other freedoms.

nor do I, but in the west we don't have tribunals by government entities to figure that out we let markets decide what is appropriate in contexts such as these, as he said, if not for right right to offend some people the African American community in the US would still be in segrigation. This is judicial, it would be a government edict that he apologize, therefore it IS government censorship

Januray 10 2007 Canada police left me a disabled stroke victim on the ground in front of a hospital called me a terrorist,and when asked for their badge numbers ,they told Me to Fuck Off! is this cool if not stick it to Canada pigs on my site please help me i did nothing only help people abused by police .There was no doctor at the hospital so i checked out staff took their wheel chair away and left me on the ground in the rain.

As a Canadian of Jewish blood, I can tell you this, they will attack by any means anyone of Jewish blood. Use the concept of "SEXUAL DIVESITY" the inclusion of sexual oreintation in the definition of DIVERSITY, to counter the hate of the radical in our workplaces in TORONTO. I was vicously attacked over it, as I am not considered fully human, as per what I am. Canada needs support from more people like this MAN Ezra, we are being oppressed and attacked everywhere. I will agree that right after 9/11 muslims were targets. But we are talking about radical muslims, who's intent is to join them or be killed. This isn't about the majority of muslims. It is about the small percent that are considered radicals who hate everyone who doesn't see things they way that they do.
