  • I'm a little confused as to why the acolytes genuflected. Normally they don't do that whilst flanking the cross-bearer.

  • to hebrewprophet: I'm not 100% sure either, but from my days as an altar boy (Roman Catholic) I remember that acolytes don't have to, but can genuflect as long as they both do the same of course (this was also the rule for the thurifer). was that just my church or is it the official rule?

  • According to traditional rubrics they do. According to NO-rubrics they *cannot* as a conseequence of CE 89 where we learn that no one can genuflect while carrying something.

  • Applying Fortescue's "Rituals of the Roman Rite Described" - which is how the serving at the Holy Name is taught, the servers should always genuflect to the Blessed Sacrament - which is on the High Altar in this Church. Only the Crucifer need not genuflect.

There is alot in this service, especially, which is nowhere in the Novus Ordo rubrics. It's all very pre-1962.

    A good, simple gospel service.

  • The Tabernacle is on the Altar. Plus, "bowing" is a Vatican II thing that isn't obligatory.

  • WOW! Its Fr Chris and Fr Ray!

  • it's the Holy Name! I don't think people should be filming the Holy Sacrifice of the mass, but the Holy Name is a glorious Church, so I can see where the temptation to do so would come in! I loved hearing Fr Ray's voice booming out too!
