  • omg can i have you for the weekend, Will pay airfare, lol, I love yoga did it for years met a boy married had a daughter divorced, 25 years later, i CANT DO WHAT i USE 2 DO, i CAN HEAD STAND againt the wall and do a slopy plow all 3 variations. Any suggestion for getting arm strength back and tone abs. i take a class but its basically a good stretching yoga poses class, no advanced..

  • to greaval yoga is not only for women yoga is designed for getting in touch with your body while strenghten your mind body and soul i just stared it as a male there are alot of males and females in my class and fr gymanstics and circus so if dont know alot about something you need to shut up

  • Thank you for saying this, I should have said something myself in response...If Yoga is for women, it is only because women tend to be a bit more sensitive and tuned in than men!

  • it's ok i am a young upcoming contortionist i have a few questions to ask does your weight have anythng to do with becoming flexible. and i can get my legs down in a chest stand but it is not flat and with the firfly i still can't get into it but i am gong to keep trying

  • Hi there...Personally i have found that the advanced poses became easier when I lost a little weight, though I don't think you necessarily have to have a thin body type to do yoga well. If you carry weight around the mid-section, it might be helpful to slim down a bit in that area, but you'll have to experiment with it. Yes, do keep trying, it all comes with practice, don't give up!

  • ok will do now after watching your vidoes and youve talked to me am movtivated

  • @allowah do u have 2 have stong arms 2 do this?

  • 3~' Yes, I would say that you do, and strong wrists, too, but give it time and keep practicing and you will one day find that you will be able to do it. There's a lot to doing this pose, too -- balance, arm strength, wrist strength, core strength, being able to work your different muscles synergistically -- so do give it time, it will come. Hope this helps! Namaste / \

  • Splendid ! , thank you very much

But i notice that why many yoga instructors include u have thin or less muscle around the ankle ??

( like u never run or jump)

I wonder that can progress in yoga , if i'm the one who love jogging ? and have very big ankle +__+

  • I feel that part of this whole journey is to accept that we have been given a certain body and to make do with what we've got, yet also realizing that anything's possible! At this point, yoga has become very easy for me, but there was a time when I also wondered if I was "cut out" for yoga, or if only some people can do it. It took a lot of practice, but ultimately I realized that we can do anything we really set our minds to. So don't give up!

  • What if you have very long legs but a short torso, could you still make it happen? That is my challenge.

  • Hi Lynn...sorry i didn't respond to your earlier...it will be harder, but you can still do it, don't stop trying!

    Namaste / \

  • Very helpful, well presented, nice pace, clearly explained, playful, reverential. Not just technical, but in all ways, nice how wonderfully your practice shines and inspires! Thank You for this gift! Namaste.

  • lol bboy terms, nice

so do is it all hip flexibility?

and in the beginning when u were sitting, and u pulled one leg to ur shoulder, is that a good way to stretch for this

  • Thanks for your message, I'm glad you got something out of the video. Some of it is hip flexibility, yes, and that one leg over shoulder thing is a good way to start. Some of it is also core strength, particularly abs -- you have to be able to lift up using your abs. And then there's also arm

strength, plus wrist strength, because your wrists will be taking all of your weight. The main thing to be able to do it is to practice it, and maybe practice other yoga poses, too.

  • You are AMAZING!

    Fan-bloody-tastic!!

    OMG!!!!!!!

I am sooooooooo impressed with what you have acheived!!!!

    OMG,OMG,OMG,OMG,OMG!!!!!

I have just been able to get into 'side plank' and I thought I was gooood!!!

    Oh well....practice makes perfect!

    Thank you for posting

    Donna x

  • Hi Donna, thanks for the compliment -- we are all amazing,

we are much more than we think, and like you said, all it takes is practice and the desire to do it. So keep on, Peace, allowah

  • dont you need upper body strength

  • Yes, you do. You can build upper body strength for the arm balances by holding Down Dog, working on easier arm balances, and any upper body strengthening exercise modality, whether it's doing push-ups, working with weights, rock climbing, swimming, etc. But there's no substitute for a regular yoga practice to really start to get the feel for these asanas. As Pattabhi Jois says, "Practice, and all is coming." Namaste.
