...multitimbral and i would purchase in a snap. daw integration has negligently dismissed in the past, so outstanding to see it her, but no multitimbral ability? bah!!!
im kinda new to synths , so this might be a stupid question but,
do i need separate speakers to use this instrument ? does the sound come out of the synth its self? or do i plug it into my computer and it comes out through my computer's speakers? or do i purchase speakers ! ?!?! :)
Great review, thanks! I owned an UltraNova for about a month, then I sold it, it sounds great and is a powerful synth, however I was looking for a more real-time tweaking synth, the menus are just annoying. Now I'm looking to buy a Supernova II.
Ok, I can see some guys talking about adjust the tempo in arp settings menu... But if you change the patch you lost your adjustment... Damn, you can't lock the tempo for every patch? Really can't understand why not...
@JONVANGO You can plug the Ultranova into your computer via USB and use it as a controller keyboard. The parameters of your VST plugins show up on the Ultranova's LED screen too, and it also works as an audio interface.
@twjmusicgroup Better not really, just different, the ultranova has more up to date sounds and ways to control them. The supernova has its own distinctive sound is multitimbral and can handle 7 simultaneous effects with no loss of polyphony, so yes in my opinion they both co-exist very well together.
@AlexisNembrode Both offers great value for the money but I think the ultranova sounds better and has more innovations in control...but sound is a personal opinion so you have to compare them for your self. I will try to do a comparison soon with the GAIA and the Venom.
@Fheyd2Black Thanks so much, greatly appreciated, when I get such a great comment it motivates me to do more! Your comment is the the best in the entire universe! Cheers! :-)
@jokercard012 i would think so, from what ive seen this keyboard is the best out there. the standard keyboard is of course the MicroKorg. most bands use the korgs or the Micron, i think even rolands.
i saw TDWP and the synth player used an m-audio midi interface for their synths and then used a roland workstation piano under neath for the more "real sounds" then i went to bledfest and saw Motionless in white and their synth player was rocking a Korg Karma. hope i helped
@MrCooperMusic okay so i bought the ultranova today. its pretty awesome! you should EASILY be able to reproduce any I See Stars or I Set my friends on fire synth parts. it sounds amazing and is easy to use
@jokercard012 I think so because it is so versatile and with the easy to use editor you can make great powerful sound easily. So I would recommend it for a synthcore band! Cheers.
I just bought it because of it's automap features to touch sensitive knobs and because of how easy it is to edit patches on the synth itself instead of using the computer. The onboard mixer is great and it's effects including compressor are something definitely worth trying. But I still have some questions about it's poly/ features. Definitely a MUST BUY. NO REGRETS.
@Loetrumpet nope no drum machine. It has a few drum sounds but nothing close to a drum machine... but a good match is with Native Instrument's Maschine.
@Wuii1337 Yes it is true I am a Rookie in doing reviews... and mistakes and oversights are inevitable. But constructive comments would be appreciated instead of personal judgment. As I mentioned before you can access the Tempo in the arpeggiator menu... and yes they are blinking lights that indicate the LFO speeds... But NO there is not a tap tempo button or dedicated preset knob. And if I am mistaken please point out were my blinded eyes are not seeing it. Thank you.
Well done! if this was your first review. The Ultranova has some nice patches and I'm gonna get that beast. It's gonna be my first synthesizer and I think this is worth buying.
@adamporteous Not sure what you mean? But, like any other synth you need a guitar to midi adapter if you would like to use it with a guitar. Hope it help somewhat...
@weinlandfilm Yes the Tempo can be adjusted more efficiently with the arpeggiator but still I would have liked a dedicated knob or pad for direct access. This synth tried and succeeded to innovate new ways to control the sound directly. So I found it strange that tempo was not prioritized, being such and important fact in techno oriented synt, for example a tap tempo pad would have been great.
mikrokorg is cool this is cooler
