  • i like

  • as anybody have the lyrics of this song ?

it seems to be not the same lyrics as the traditionnal song

    beautiful song

  • Hmmm, interesting perspective. I don't see it so much as a karma video as a video about how God works through us, humans, who may be guided by angels, to take care of each other, if we are open to the opportunity. It's a wonderful video! Thanks!

  • Peace unto you, messengers of the One, blessed is the One. Enter in peace, messengers of the One, blessed is the One. Bless me with peace, messengers of the One, blessed is the One. Depart in peace, messengers of the One, blessed is the One.

  • to people who talk about race............every race in the world is mixed with one another ......... that happened in the past and is happening in present and guess what it will happen in the future as well ..............

  • J'aime cette suite d'actions qui ont toujours une répercussion positive... nous sommes peut être tous l'ange de quelqu'un ????

I like a lot this succession of actions that makes always another good one ... maybe all of us are the angel of anotrer one ???? Lehitra'ot all over le monde !

  • my brother Arabs in North Africa does not exist. the true Arab is the Arabian Peninsula (Saoudi, Qatar, Emirates, Yamen ...) North Africa are Amazigh (Berbers) I lived 13 years in Algeria, Kabylie exactly, can I swear that I do not speak Arabic I always kabyle speak Tamazight (the Berber Kabylie) while North Africa is in Numidia (Berber) before the revelation of Islam I swear we even know that there are Arabs in this world, not mixing things please

  • that would make them arab jews... you're right there IS such things... all I meant was that it sounds like music that originated in the arabian peninsula i certainly didn't mean to make this a political conflict... its a beautiful song with musical influences (like in any genre of music) from many cultures and regions... sorry for all the conflict my comment created! hope i didn't ruin anybody's day!

  • Yes SHALOM SALAM LOVE & PEACE que la musique pacifie les mœurs

  • What happened to avishai's bass playing, I like his singing, but his bass playing style is so unique! I hope he doesn't give it up!

  • :) great stuff... shalom alechem!

  • Shalom aleichem. I like the music.

  • You obviously don't get it then. It is a "karma" video, but with a purpose. The song is usually sung on Shabbat to HaShem's angels whom He sends us to protect us from harm. Those angels have a part in protection over us even in the mundane "lame" things like bird crap. Think before you open your mouth and criticize what you don't understand.

  • It's also to show (beyond your "Karma") that while someone may be inconvenienced, there minimal discomfort really plays a bigger part in the peace of others who might need it more.

I know...it's so lame to be selfless and giving, isn't it?...

  • Eşsiz bir çalışma.

    <3

  • Shalom Aleichem

    from USA!

  • I love everything Avishai does. I am a student of peace studies and often have wondered about his politics (at the same time i'm happy we don't talk about them). But I think its interesting how he's taken a phrase that is used in hebrew (as well as in arabic "salamu aleikum"; not to mention a jewish song) and made a video about doing good for people. Notice the Arabic sounds, the oud for one, and how his voice in the chorus sounds like a loudspeaker doing the Moazen - the muslim call to prayer.

  • Both Israeli and Arab music have similar sounds and rhythms. I don't think he is trying to make any reference to the Moazen.

  • Why do people always say arabic sounds? The majority of Israelis are from the surrounding ME and North Africa, where their families lived for thousands of years, some even during the times of ancient Israel. These so-called arab sounds existed long before the Arabs amongst Jews. The mutual symbiosis of ethnic mixture and music has filtered through into the people of the ME today... not all Jews are white, Europeans.... Do people now know any of this?

SHALOM alikhim, LAHNA felawen, SALAM alikoum

  • @rabah93200 Yes Thats Just What i want Said PPL Of North Africa Are Not Arab Geneticly We Are Amazigh Race

  • @luck5664 Yes i Share You point and The Jews Of North Africa are More Than Others Jews Ashkenaz or Europen And The Lived For thousands Of Years Specially in Morocco More Than 400.000 moroccan Jews Lived Before 1948

  • @luck5664 I feel lucky because I can trace my jewish history back to the tribe of judah plus I know most of my family from that side too. this song reminds me of alot about my heritage and how it's come so far

  • Gerçekten çok başarılı bir çalışma!

  • Barış ^^

  • meoolah !!

  • Anybody know how or where to buy this recording?

  • It's from his Israeli album, "Shaot Regishot" (Sensitive Hours). There is no international release, but you can order it directly from Israeli vendors. It's an excellent album, I highly recommend it.

  • Thanks josephjstern.

  • Is this in Tel Aviv?

  • yes, but the skyline shown in the beginning is in Ramat Gan, but its just across the ayalon highway, east of tel aviv and more or less a part of tel aviv ;)

  • although we like it as a bass player, his popular (commercial?) project with nice music, with a very strong message, expressed in ways so subtle, is grateful.

Do not forget the Israel reality.

    Nice song, nice video

  • Do not forget the Israel reality ? what do you mean?

  • Agreed, he has got a good voice, but not a great one. Last time I saw him with the encore, there was a beautiful girl with beautiful voice, and Avishai did let her sing only some backup voice.

He should stick to bass, where he is great, and not singing where he is only average. And let the singing to those, who mastered it.

He can tell the world much more thru the bass, than singing.

  • Avishai Cohen is a genius!

    Shalom Aleichem from Egypt.

  • I'm sorry to say this, but I saw him live last year, and he sang this song as an encore...and it sounded WAY more better and soulful than on the recording..it's like they took all the feeling and passion out of his voice and playing and mixed it into a flat Israelic songfestival-tune!

...still love Avishai though, ánd the tune..

  • FABULOUS !!!! Don't care of the apparences

  • Shalom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Stick to jazz bass dude...

  • wow.........loved the vid

  • it's such a nice song but I couldn't figure out the meaning of this video. Maybe if I could speak some hebrew, it would open better to me..

  • gorgalisin- the song blesses the angels of peace, angels of above that come at your door. welcome in peace, angels, leave in peace. it's usually sung on Shabbat dinners.

    Any help?

  • and as he sings this the "workers" ( literal translation of Hebrew "Malachei") of peace, do their work.

  • I don't think that anyone here is planning on dating or hanging out with Avishai so it doesn't matter if he's a nice guy or not. When watching a video his talent is all that matters, not that I was going to trust the comment of a complete stranger anyway.

  • Yiddish sounds more like German than anything else, this is Hebrew.

  • As a christian this vid makes me think of the importance of being led by the Holy Spirit; to be in right place in the right time, doing the right thing, and to encourage others to do likewise.

  • Whew ~ Living In The Moment With God! Goose Bumps This Gave Me!!!

  • hebrew

  • he sings in Hebrew

  • שיר מעולה

  • Tel Aviv is so beautiful.

  • not only is avashai a fantastic bassist... apparently he's also god!

  • lol.

  • he is 55... and looks like WOW

  • actually he's 39, but still looks good:)

  • You need to understand that these songs, piyutim, are our soul music. They are a wonderful well to draw from.

  • Şalom Aleyxem=Selâmün aleyküm!

  • hebrew

  • What language is this? I sounds so strange to me yet I really like it.

  • Hebrew =)

  • There's only 2 kinds of music.... good music and bad music . This is not the bad kind !

  • Keep the crappy comments to yourself.

Obviously Avishai Cohen's not your average one-dimensional musician.

I, for one, have enjoyed discovering this side to Cohen. And I'm always blown away by his fantastic jazz bass.

  • I Enjoy his jazz bass too. But surprised me much that i was very angry at the moment. I paid for about 35 euro to hear his "jazz bass" and the only thing was this.

Understand that i come from a mediterranean city or town (Barcelona) and i'm bored, really bored of this fashion.

  • but how was the gig?, only this kid of singing sounds or what?

  • I agree with you....it's from CD Sensitive Hours which aimed on Israeli market.

I was looking forward to the gig in prague, but I've found out that he'll play with Eastern unit, not with Trio...so I' m worried not to be a pop-music concert. Do you anybody know what sort of music plays Avishai with Eastern unit??? Thanks

  • Awesome! I was one of those suspicious and slightly dissapointed Avishai's fans who used to think this neo-folk stuff was a degradation of the extraordinary jazz musician and composer. But eventually, on a second rehearsal, I realized I was just a genre snob. Who will ever enrich and purify pop music if not the true geniouses like Cohen, who can establish some new paradigms? He deserves all respect.
