I am from South Carolina. I wish we could impeach that idiot. He's done nothing good for our state since he was first elected. I will be glad when his term ends.
So the video says stop playing politics with South Carolina's future. Isn't that exactly what this video is doing?
Sanford is asking to be able to pay down SC's debt rather than line the pockets of politicians with pet projects across the state. Seems to me the leading Democrats and Republicans need to take lessons from normal South Carolinians who pay down their debt rather than continue to spend money they don't have. Paying off 700M in debt will save about 25M a year.
Overspending anywhere when you can't financially back it up is dumb. Rather than dig a deeper hole, paying down the stuff that's already put the state into debt is better. 25M/yr+ less principal mean money freed up to support schools and other needed programs.
I have written and phoned my representatives (federal/state/city) since 1998 about spending and other bills. If I don't like the issues going on in DC/State/City, I let my representatives know, no matter what party is in the majority.
And it's only asking for 1/4 of the stimulus to be applied to debt. The rest is mandated to go to spending on infrastructure, schools and other programs.
I didn't hear anyone worrying about South Carolina's financial situation when DC shipped all its manufacturing jobs overseas and when they killed the Tobacco industry. Why do you care so much now?
I agree with the message, but this is a weak attack ad that packs no passion.
Instead of showing bullet points on the side of a barn, what about some real people and explaining how Sanford's actions directly impact families? Teacher layoffs. Reduced unemployment benefits. Home foreclosures force families to the streets. Cut-backs in police protection.
wow screw this ad. Mark Sanford kicks ass! I wish he was our governor here in PA. Rendell sucks.

Pet projects. Like those stupid schools and infrastructure and healthcare.
I bet you were out there protesting Bush's and the Republicans when earmarks went from 4,000 in 2000 (Clinton) to 14,000 in 2006 (All Republicans).
