i love the wondergirls. however, it seems to me that they don't act themselves when doing interviews here in america. in the korean interviews, they look like they feel more comfortable. do you think it is the language thing that is causing this?

You should see their episode on Golden Fishery. Of all the shows they've been on ( And I've seen quite a lot) This one moved me to tears. The hardships and the transition from Korea to NY and so much more. It Kind of helped me understand why Sunmi probably feels the way she does. A must see for all WG fans. Wish they subbed the 2nd part though.

BoA studied english in the Asian world before coming to America to make songs. The problem is that she learned it in the Asian world, and will always have an Asian accent.

JYP knows that the best way to learn english is to learn it in America, with Americans. They've been in America for four months and made amazing improvement.

So to conclusion, JYP is some mastermind CEO who likes to take strategic huge and costly risks.

I agree with everything you said. WG's English has improved so much in such a short time and I'm sure it's because they've been living in America and interacting with English speakers on a daily basis. I bet at this rate, it won't be long before they are speaking just like the natives (Americans).

No, not accent. Vocabulary is more the problem for these Asian acts, & I except WG shall be similarly hampered during radio interviews, as BoA did. Then again, Hikaru Utada speaks fluent American & it wasn't enough either.

Yup, that's what I meant by vocabulary. Hopefully the WG can expand it with more exposure.

But don't scoff at BoA, whose conversational English was relatively better when she came Stateside. Her difficulty was perhaps ending up targeting a different, more adult US audience.

Point is, they are (were) all trying to be multi-linguistic, i.e. learning Chinese too (plus BoA further mastering Japanese) whilst in or barely out of their teens. So let's encourage, rather than nitpick.

hehe still having some trouble expressing themselves confidently in english. must be hard on ye eun and sunye (ye eun mostly) having to handle the responsibility of answering the bulk of the questions, with little time to think of answers.

that's ok, it will come with time and experience. it's only been a year anyways (4 months since moving to the us). the more interviews they do, the better and more comfortable they will be. they are pretty good already as is, considering...

I don't think they should do any interviews until they are extremely confident in answering the questions. They all were too quiet and looked quite uncomfortable.

I think the whole idea is to put them into these situations as much as possible, that way they train their english faster and better?

Being forced to think on spot what to say in english infront and to American people.

Maybe JYP believes that it is the fastest way to learn and master english. They've made amazing aprovement in their english, at first they had a HEAVY korean accent, now they sound english, they just need to learn to express their words correctly.

I think SunMi succumbs to homesickness at times. It might be a difficult adjustment for her & Sohee, the babies of the group. They had just dropped out of high school, remember. The other WGs are 3-4 years older, without being forced to grow up so fast.
