  • I laughed when my dad told me that Michael Crawford was Phantom of the Opera....I just listened to his cd and was expecting a 'early one morning just as the sun was rising....' or even 'there was a man who bought a cat...'

  • Lol Comedies sure ain't what they used to be

  • Eat your heart out, Jackie Chan.

  • classic comedy

  • I fell in love with the show on You Tube and bought an all-region DVD player so I could buy the entire series on DVD. Michael Crawford is an absolutely brilliant comedian - a real genius. It's not just his physical ability (holy cow, the stunts he does are incredible - I can not believe he actually went under that truck), but everything else as well. He literally inhabits the character of Frank Spencer to the point where you can't find any trace of Michael there at all.

  • the one whens learning to drive's funny aswell

  • This isn't the funniest scene of the entire series, the deleted scene in moving house was. ( The entire tar barrel incident with the Sikh couple uncut) It can only be viewed on Gold as the BBC refused to allow it to be aired, even on the DVD release.

  • This is pure funny stuff

  • Franky frankly has a face like a sucked out feruca and what's with the hair which makes him appear to be going in 5 different directions at once ? I admit that I've never seen The Hex Factor, yet I still seem to be haunted by this talentless little pre-warmed has-bin. It's amazing how such a vacuous T.V show can cause such a stir amongst the airheads of the nation who rush to vote for a bunch of 3rd rate Butlins entertainers, but can't be bothered to turn out on Polling day.

  • @INDEPF vacuous? Have you seen our options on polling day?

  • @portstewartsam left,right,central,left of centre,dress to the right...makes not an ounce of difference.Politics is over.Anyone else noticed ?

  • ack! It's the Phantom of the Opera--rollerskating!

  • 0:51 - 1:03 - Such a shame they got rid of that bridge some years later :(

  • Love it

  • I've been articulated, LOL

  • I have the whole box set of some mothers do ave them

  • michael crawford FTW! and he did all his own stunts :3

  • Michael Crawford is one of the most talented individuals in all of show business. From this show, to helping Torvill & Dean with their Gold Medal winning performance of "Bolero" to Phantom of the Opera and other works, Crawford is genius. Pure and simple.

  • some man frank lol

  • One of THE best comedy moments ever. Michael Crawford is a legend and this is wat comedy should be. I'd love to se a modern day 'Health and Safety' version of this...

  • fucking adverts befor vids >:( this isnt the bbc yer know !!

  • never get tired of watching this:L

  • ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

  • im 19 and i love Some Mothers Do Ave Em, one of the best sitcoms ever, i got the box set a few years ago and it is easily my most played DVD always makes me laugh

  • Funny!!There's nothing like a good laugh.

  • I almost died laughing at this! :P

  • Why does he say "I'm going left" and then goes right?

  • @OldSchoolRasslin its frank,thats why,..............

  • How this show was only rated #22 of the greatest British sitcoms is beyond me- certainly in the top five for sure and what a great talent Crawford was and still is.

  • This is so funny!!.I remember at the time I was laughing so hard....He did all his own stunts too :)

  • I remember watching this and everyone in the family literally on the floor with laughter.

  • Some of the funniest comedy I've ever seen.

  • yeah... COOL STORY BRO!!

  • They should have had Frank shouting "I REGRET NOTHING!!!!" when he flew out of the building. That would have been hilarious but this was still pretty funny.

  • Michael Crawford can officially do anything. :D

  • i like to see what frank spencer is up to in 2011

  • @MsFanmail probably got a twitter page..

and every 5 mins hes tweeting betty to pick him up from a new job every week cause hes been sacked lmao

  • That hilarious sketch seriously reminded me of Norman Wisdom when he was filming Trouble In Store in 1953 he used some rollerskates to go after the bus that Sally Wilson (Lana Morris) was on just to return her purse :L

  • did he do these stunts by himself???

  • @JamieCurrant yup he did all of them

  • Look up Will Frank Spencer's Jessica marry Prince William - The Royal Family would never be the same again.

  • OOOOooOOooHH

  • BETTY!!!!

  • The amount ive replayed this, i can't remember ! :D

  • my favourite episode

  • 30 dislikes your fucking joking he is amazing at acting

  • apparently the truck wasn't in the script, it just went past and he had to duck under it! amazing stuntman michael crawford!

  • @scobiedog1

    Really? That's crazy.

  • lol im going left BANG!!!!!

  • The best actual scene is when Frank can't get the Wendy house out the house and he lowers it out of the window but as it goes down he goes up bangs his head smashes the Wendy house gies down the rope is still tied to him and he goes up upside down smashes the Wendy house again comes down the Wendy house falls on him and the ambulance comes for him roflmao

  • Betty I've been articulated Roflmao

  • That was on a cbbc show called chute

  • The 1970's was the best decade for British comedy, yet of all the superb stuff we saw - this is the one that people keep referring to. My only regret is that with today's technology the sequence could have been even longer!! Michael Crawford is a national treasure.

  • the truck wasn't supposed to be there

  • 35 or so years on and these are still bloody brilliant! the fact that michael crawford did all his own stunts just shows what a superb actor he is

  • it's unreal to think that all of that was completely real and unedited... Michael Crawford you are one extremely talented and dedicated actor. <3

  • right through the door pure class :)

  • i dont understand why anyone would dislike this?

  • @Walters78s because the don't like it

  • The fact he actually performed these stunts himself makes it even better! what a ledge.

  • LEGEND DID ALL HIS OWN STUNTS

  • He was literally articulated!

  • "But i've got no change" XD

  • thought the bbc dont do commercials?

  • @gsian187 - This isn't being aired on the BBC is it

  • i almost choked on a pear quarter when i was a kid watching this,but don't hold it against Frank,lol,wot a hero

  • @irvsstella Well my Keyboard has had a nice of soaking of pepsi, it happens XD

  • I love how he says 'Get out of the way' like they are supposed to.

  • You would never belive he would be in phantom of the opera

  • is it true he done all hes owe stunts?

  • @leemeires Yes

  • @leemeires yes it is

  • IM GOING LEFT !

  • Its a good thing we still have channels like UK gold that show timeless classic and genious British humour like this. Unlike most of the mainstream crap broadcasted today (apart from TV burp maybe, but NOTHING comes close to old british humour)

  • I'll always remember the bit where he went down that footbridge at 0:51 - I always thought that that was the best part

  • Frank Spencer = The Phantom.... how this can be true makes my brain hurt. That man is truly a legend.

  • so bad its good!

  • better than any jackie chan stunts anyonecould be his stuntman they all look the same

  • This must definitely have influenced Rowan Atkinson for The Mr Bean character

  • This is how Michael Crawford got the part as The Phantom

  • Watched this 4 times and still haven't stopped laughing :L:L:L

  • You just can't imagine anyone else in the part of Frank Spencer. Even if Michael Crawford was third choice for the part. (Norman Wisdom was first choice but he turned it down)

  • i love this scene and he did all of his own stunts u dont get that in the new comedys

  • "I aint got no change" hahahahhaha

  • Loooool.

    Brilliant.

  • This has got to be the funniest scene I've ever seen. LOLOLOLOLOL!!!! :o)

  • Classic stuff lol!

  • lol

  • this is one of the funniest things i have ever seen !! Haa

  • oh frankster you little walking disease.

  • watch WHO'S THE STRONGER SEX on youtube now!!!

  • That is some incredible skill to skate clumsily through all that terrain

  • With modern day techniques this could have been even longer - oh for a re-make!

  • Watched this on telly today, brilliant! XD

  • The ending had me in hysterics!!

  • amazing also hes a very brave man

  • @csvictory12 its clearly stunt man, you can tell from the audio and the way you cant see his face properly

  • @JoelGeetar

He did ALL his own stunts.

    Every single one.

  • @DakNJaxter He was solely a stuntman before.

  • @DakNJaxter hes the uks version of jakie chan, without the kung fu ha ha

  • @JoelGeetar Michael Crawford used to do his own stunts.. everyone knows that.. :)

  • @JoelGeetar Erm your totally wrong, michael crawford did every single one of his stunts. the man is an absolute legend. one of the best shows ever. im 29 now and i grew up watching this shit and i still laugh at it to this day.

  • That was filmed at Edmonton Green in North London......where David Jason was born..............fact!

  • @chilled74 And where I live. :-)

  • @chilled74 ..and at Picketts Lock Sports Centre where I had many a happy swim. Anyone know if it's still there?

  • I aint got no change! hahahahahhahaha

  • That was a fuckin' classic comedy moment, his own stunt aswell.

  • betty ive been articulated hahahahahaha

  • Beat the best of the car-chases seen in films!

  • To think Crawford can go from this brilliant comedy as the hapless frank spencer,to become the supremely dramatic Phantom in the Phantom of the Opera. Superb actor/singer!

  • absolutely rib-tickling. F S never loses his hilarity all these years later

  • THis was at Ponders End years ago! Doesnt exist anymore : ( what has happened to these great days

  • @unrealharry no thats wrong, the skating down the spiral stairway was at Edmonton Green, where the bus station is now and opposite the Edmonton Green railway station and some of it is in Pickets Lock

  • @achtunglady Oh well its all the same area... All mosques around there now

  • A classic moment in British comedy

  • @fanfanackapan

rofl! im going left! aaaah! (goes right into store)

  • Oh my gosh I am laughing SO HARD right now! XDDD

  • I just wet my pants laughing again !!!

  • how long did this serries last? it was before my time but have a series on VHS and fell in love instantly.

  • this deserves to be called comedy :) not like the type you get these days, and no camera effects either :)

  • where was this stunt filmed in

  • In my opinion the craziest stunt he ever did was in the driving lesson episode where he drove over a train track right as the train was passing. He actually had to swerve a little to the right to avoid being hit by that train. Insanely dangerous and very Michael Crawford!!

  • HOW COME ALL OF THESE OFFICIAL BBC CLIPS ARE LO-FI CHUNKY CRAP?

  • @DisgustingArsehole becoz its oldskool fool!!!

  • LOL Edmonton Green is a lot busier now days

  • "I ain't got no change!!" Love it ^_^

  • the girl with the shorter hair is definatly retarded.

  • totally brilliant

  • He is a stunning actor especially doing all his own stunts

  • did he do all his own stunts?

  • @a1140 yes

  • I LOVE this episode. It's sums up british comedy so perfectly. BETTY!

  • It would be funnier if it was silent. His little comments aren't very funny.

  • Crazy mofo. I'd love to get pissed with him.

  • lmao

  • Michael Crawford is a brilliant actor- definetly one of a kind!

  • Which episode was this in?

  • Did all his own stunts!

  • my boyhood hero :-)

  • Check out the (female) frank spencer impersonation. Look up rach aka frank spencer.

  • i love michael crawford.. oMG i posted this on my site.. to cheer people up in england...

  • rotfl i've not seen this clip in years and it's still funny as hell

  • Just read that to, about him doing his own stunts. I have doubts. the first part in this with him on the stairway looks like someone else. Lets get to the bottom of this.

  • @Geert365 He did ALL of his own stunts. The only one he didn't do was flying the aeroplane in the 1978 Christmas special. But it was all him. I grew up watching this and reading the newspapers talking about his stunts. He really was that fearless and that good. There was even a 1975 documentary called To Be Perfectly Frank where they went behind the scenes on his stunts for that year's Christmas special and some of his previous ones.

  • Brilliant. Crawford is a Master of Comedy.

  • makes me laugh every time i watch it. gotta love Frank. :P

  • He did all his own stunts, what a legend

  • Picketts Lock sure don't look like that anymore!

  • Frank Spencer = Fucking hero

  • He did do his own stunts, the first and last guy to do that in sitcoms.

  • omg im crying tears of laughter

"i havent got any change"....... hahahahahaha

    that made my day!:D

  • pmsl,classic

  • oh the i havent got any change part killed me!

  • Does anyone know for definate if Michael Crawford did all his own stunts in Some Mothers Do Have Em?

  • yes he did

  • This is SO FUNNY!!!!!!!!

  • Priceless!

  • Theres too many stunts around using wizardry and modern technology - anythings possible using those! The beauty of Some Mothers Do Ave Em was that Michael Crawford did all of his own stunts - He learnt any skill just to do them (including tightrope walking and trapezing in later years for Barnum) Not many actors are prepared to do that these days - they get stand ins.

  • If only this excellent sequence could be re-shot today with our modern technology, camera tricks and other technical wizzardry .... just think, it could have been a far longer sequence and even funnier. Still, it's the one everyone remembers from the many episodes!

  • hahaha I love old frank - funny bugga
