this song has became a part of my car people say its my theme song because im always transporting things like that and my natural habit for driving fast and always takeing the back roads
This song is awesome. I live in Knoxville, Tennessee and drive down Kingston Pike every day on my way to work and actually pass by the Bearden Hill area where this wreck took place. Alot has changed since 1954 but there is a marker up where this wreck happened. They even filmed some of the scenes from the 1958 movie here in Knoxville and in Asheville, NC. Love this song though - great piece of Knoxville history!
The dirt track at the start of this video looks just like the dirt track in Roswell New Mexico. That place was a blast.

this was on Clic and Clac the Tappet Bros. as one of their auto filler tunes this weekend.
Robert Mitchum, well at least he could sort of carry a tune, ulike Richard Harris or Lorne Green

I live near Asheville, so it is awesome to know that a famous movie about moonshining was filmed near my hometown. Great Song.

Mitchum also recorded a calypso album.
This is very good for a non-singer, but Jim and Jesse McReynolds own this song.
