Destroying the island? Well, surely that's down to the Thai government and not the people that want to go there and experience paradise. Granted, Koh Phangan is becoming a victim of its popularity. It's a world away from the first time I went in 1999 but this has nothing to do with young party goers - just go to Koh Samui - mainly populated by families and older tourists, it's also being destroyed over time.
Let young people enjoy themselves and have fun just like you did when you were young!

On full moon night you'll find 90% of partygoers wandering around drunk, gawking at 10% who came to dance. Look at the videos, they tell the truth. Find another party spot because this beach scene is OVER and has been for several years. It's only a matter of time before McDonalds arrives.

hi everyone, i spent quite alot of time on Koh Phangnan this summer, and on the beach and at the half moon party i heard this song (trance i think) which began with this woman singing and this mellow beat then it really speeds up with this heavy beat and the lyric is "insane insane insane" does any one know what its called/who its by??

Carpediem37, Mai pen rai. Anybody who has taken the time to explore away from some of the few tourist places in Thailand featured on You Tube, knows that this is far from Thai culture. I am not knocking the tourist scene. But I prefer to get away from the tourist spots and soak up the true culture. Of course being there for 8 months the last couple of years gives me the time to do that.

Point well taken, y00tuber. I totally agree. Though I still wonder why THIS is what, for a majority of Western tourists in SE Asia, constitutes "letting your hair down." My husband and I took 3 weeks to go by motorcycle from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and let our hair down plenty. Seems like we could come up with more interesting ways to represent our cultural way of 'letting loose' than publicly dry humping each other...
