"A February 2010 report from the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) finds that the “effect of immigration from 1994 to 2007 was to raise the wages of U.S.-born workers, relative to foreign-born workers, by 0.4% (or $3.68 per week).” Even the small (and shrinking) number of “U.S.-born workers with less than a high school education saw a relative 0.3% increase in wages (or $1.58 per week)” as a result of immigration during this period." Legalizing illegals brings money for workers, unions alike.
i think those auto contracts had to be negotiated and agreed upon before signing them. i wonder who was on the other side of the table shaking the unions hands when it was all said, sealed and done?
hey, listen, illegal immigrants should not be working in my country legally period. $22 an hour for a housekeeper? some people with degrees don't even make that much money! the union is one of the reasons why our economy is so bad. look at our auto industry! unionized.
unitehere is a real union! if you know of someone from unitehere who is making backroom deals with the employer you need to tell us who it is or who are these people making deals so that we can get them out of the organization!! if unitehere was not a real union, why are the other unions like UFCW, LIUNA, IBT, IBEW, IAMAW, Fred Ross, Jr., and many other unions and grand professional union organizers in support of unitehere?!!!?
We just got more support from: UBCJA, AFSCME, AFGE, IUOE, IAFF, USW, AFT, IUPAT, NALC and the Building & Construction Trades
Department, AFL-CIO. And more supports is coming to the true union of UNITEHERE...not the union that builds top-down and sides with cooperations, fortune 100 and 500 companies!
whatever? what union are you a part off?? your just talking and not showing me anything, no proof at all. if youre going to say it...tell it all. prove to me im wrong.
That's not true Jurs21. Migrants are dying to assimilate into U.S. culture so much so that they prefer their children do not even learn spanish, as valuable as a second language is in the world.
Either way I'm glad that you concede a human being is not illegal. That means we can work towards a solution.
I believe the only real solution is giving migrants a reason to stay in their own countries or at least stop giving them reasons to leave in the first place.
I see hispanics on a daily basis. I cant agree with your first point. Unfortunatly, the majority of what I see is hispanics seaking spanish to their kids and it's reciproctaed. Really, I see no assimilation of which you speak. And yes, I would gladly conceed tax dollars to help mexico prosper. But Claderon's comments last week is a huge step backward. He needs to be delt with. Harshly.
Harshly? Calderon is the most friendly Mexican president to the U.S. in so long. Considering the Mexican public's views on the U.S. you're lucky you don't have a Chavez south of the border.
You can base your feelings about hispanics on personal experience or on statistics, and statistics suggest hispanics are assimilated very well.
It's not about having a clue, or having a choice. It's the only choice. It's a choice between bad and worse. She's not arguing that migrants staying in the U.S. illegally should have labor unions, just that all workers' rights should be protected. Migrants are working in the U.S. even if anti-migrant advocates don't notice the pennies they've been saving off the food they eat, the lawns they enjoy, and the houses they live in.
It is SO about having a clue. coming here illegally is not only ignorant it is arrogant. the arrogance is a factor in why we have potentially 20-30 million people who shouldn't be here. and let's get the wording correct..these "Migrants" of which you speak are here illegally, and therefore are illegal aliens. frankly, Ill pay more for food, and mow my own lawn if that means we enforce the law.
..and an illegal alien should in no way shape or form be allowed union benefits..thats just an insane proposition. if they don't like they way they are being treated at work here, they can apply for their visa or go the home.
Arrogance is telling some of the most oppressed people in the world what to do while you enjoy the benefits of a computer. Trust me, if migrants could stay in their countries and not risk their lives, they would. Then they wouldn't have to deal with people like you.
Arrogance is: Breaking the law when you know there will be no punishment. Arrogance is: demanding rights in country you are not a citzen in. Arrogance is: lak of respect for a country's launguage, laws, and customs.
Face it ..the overwhelming majority of which Enruique Moron is talking about, want our laws enforced.
You can only take stance supporting U.S. immigration law if you are completely ignorant of how complicated and unjust it is for everyone, not just the migrants you don't know anything about.
Jurs21, if that were true, then yes, it would be wrong. However, "illegal aliens" cannot get welfare, it is impossible. Even if they have a fake social security number, they will not try to get welfare with it. As far as medical care, immigrants are less likely to use medical services and visit emergency rooms than the native born. It isn't an opinion, it is fact.
yes they do apply for and get welfare/wic/and food stamps..read the news...
as far as medical care goes, they cannot be refused treatment regardless of if they are here illegally or not, I heard that from Ron Paul about his experience as an md.
What I want to hear is some accountabilty for the pro illegal side.
I have yet to hear that they aknowledge they are breaking the law when they come here.
Im really tired of hearing this birthright/our land nonsense.
I guess I can conceed the human himself not being illegal, but his actions are and must be dealt with. And the prior point, yes they apply for welfare on a stolen identity.
the mere fact an illegal alien can get a drivers license is an outrage.
Comparing slavery to mass illeagl immigration is off base. I think the laws on the books are just. The mere fact tha 30 million people are here illegally and flatly refuse to assimilate may even call for harsher penalties.
Is there any injustice in the act of millions of foreigners breaking our laws and coming and staying in this country illegally? Oh wait, I know your globalist open borders answer. Our country is not a real country to you.
The anti-migrant trolls come out of the youtube woodwork. If there was a way for low-skilled migrants to come to the U.S. they wouldn't have to arrive illegally. Furthermore you're upholding unjust and complicated immigration law that I'm certain you know nothing about.
Open borders is just a myth anti-migrant advocates use to discredit pro-migrant advocates. I don't think the U.S. should open it's borders, just that people like you should expand your mind beyond them.
We don't need LOW SKILLED WORKERS to come into the United States AT ALL!!!! We already have enough LEGAL CITIZENS WHO ARE LOW SKILLED WORKERS and can't get jobs because the illegals are undercutting the wages!!! Get real!!! And, this is a total joke! There aren't that many "unions" around to "protect" ALL THOSE LOW END JOBS - AND THERE NEVER WILL BE! This is just a power grab for the unions...unions just want to take back more power that they have lost over the years!
I'll bet you don't complain when you drink orange juice, eat asparaugs, live in a cheaper home, enjoy the benefits of landscaping, get you're hotel room cleaned, etc. If you don't think the U.S. needs low-skilled workers then I dare you to try to live without the benefits of them.
There ARE NO BENEFITS TO ILLEGALS FLOODING OUR COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!! We should flood their country and take it over.....it should be pretty easy, since they are a bunch of ignorant drug dealers!!
We NEVER use illegals for ANYTHING!!! And, I won't support anyone who does!
SEND THEM HOME and open up the jobs to LEGAL AMERICANS!!!!!!!!!! YAHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

if you came here illegaly, you should have some clue, that there will be pitfalls.

yes..it is unjust when illegal aliens recieve welfare and medical care on our dime.
it is also unjust when an illegal alien steal someone's identity so they can "stay' here.
If it is unjust that Mexcio can't take care of it's own, that is MEXICO's ISSUE. The United states is not a charity group.

Jurs21, what news are you reading? I haven't read that and I know what the law says about it.
Medical care - you are correct, no one can't be denied treatment. But undocumented go to emergency rooms at lower rates than native born.
Accountability - sure. I agree that they broke a law when they came illegally or overstayed illegally. But that does not make the human being illegal.
Besides, slavery was legal not too long ago. Were runaway slaves illegal?
