  • The end of my Yamaha:

Dad wrecked it in 1980. Smashed it into a gate-post that had formally been a wooden electric pole. In addition, Dad dislocated his left shoulder, and split that shoulder "ball-joint"...I hauled him to the hospital in a pickup-a distance of 15 miles on gravel roads. My Yamaha sadly ended up in our barn...I'd sure like to have another Yamaha in that model...

  • Yamaha Advertisement/Jingle Continued:

Recognize the narrator's voice? I do-it's the voice of Christopher George-star of TV's "THE RAT PATROL"...(Uncle of Vanna White-from "WHEEL OF FORTUNE".)

My gold 1974 "DT-100-A" Enduro was the first year for the "skinny" gas tanks-also the "raised" front fender. I loved that thing. Downhill, (a time or two) I watched the speedometer register 72 MPH! As I grew up on my family's ranch/oil leases, I also had rifle racks & tool boxes on mine...

  • I had never been influenced by a "jingle" until I heard the "long" version of this Yamaha jingle back in 1974, I had never ridden a Yamaha, but after I heard that "jingle"and watched their commercials I HAD to have one! Dad did buy me one. A 1974 Yamaha "DT-100-A" Enduro-gold in color. He bought it brand-new from Jack Sheppard (Shep's Yamaha) in Bartlesville, OK. for $634.00. I'd been riding a home-made "motor-bike" from the 1930's- a Schwinn bicycle with a "May-Tag" washing-machine motor!
