It's still true: "worn out phrases and longing gazes won't get you where you want to go" LOL. By the way, this debuted on Billboard 12/03/66, not 67. By that late in '67, the top ten party was over for this group :( Okay, you've whetted my appetite; now I want the 45 of "Dedicated To The One I Love."
The original Dunhill, mono 45 is the ONLY version of "Words Of Love" that leaves Cass's final "anymore" good and LOUD and doesn't fade it down at the end. And it's by no means the only M&P single that's at its best in the 45 version.
The best part of this video is the sound of the scratchy vinyl before the song starts. If i had to peg something as my favourite sound... this would be it.
Nothing wrong with the Mamas & Papas in stereo. There were just a handful of singles that had "exclusive" mono mixes. Dunhill was notorious for this. Sadly - the fact that the label changed hands so many times, no one realized the value in these and trashed the tapes! Now all that's left is the vinyl 45s. The Boneheads!
Don't hear stuff like this on the radio anymore. Even the oldies station here mostly just plays 70's soft-rock like Steely Dan or the Doobie Brothers at best.

Is the flip side "Dancing in The Streets"? If so, can you play it?
