This is why people shouldn't attend circuses or aquariums...these animal's lives are stolen and then they are beaten and broken...please don't support those who confine animals and use them for entertainment... pass on zoos, aquariums, circuses, and rodeos...
Oh wow, this is such a touching story, I was so immersed in it I didn't want it to finish, so I will check elephants[dot]com and see their stories - it's like life stopped for a wee while - thank you britches 1985.
@jamieandrei The older elephant, the one with the guy, had been at a zoo for a number of years, and he was her keeper for years. After a long time, the zoo decided they needed to find a better place for her, and so relocated her to the sanctuary.
@jamieandrei He was a hired keeper. I saw this when it first broadcast on PBS. The circus wanted to have her put down, he was terribly upset but in no position to do anything about it.
What a sad and yet so wise way God has to teach us lessons.... I loved the video, really touching and very sweet! Thank you for sharing! I needed to watch this!
Oh my .... the tears are streaming down my face for all the others but I'm so happy for these beautiful elephants. God bless them and keep them both in health and harmony, well fed and loved for all their remaining days
What are we DOING to animals, and why are there still so many people who think it is OK because they are "only animals"? I didn't know it was still permitted in the United States for circuses to use elephants (and other animals). It is unbelievable.
What a moving and heartbreaking story. Some humans are so cruel and don't deserve a place on this planet but fortunately there are some who care. Thank you to everyone who cares. RIP Jenny.
Thank you so much for sharing this story. How tragic that they were ever treated so shamefully in the first place....man's cruelty to animals has no boundaries. :(
It would have to be one of the most beautiful and touching videos I have ever had the privilege of watching. ♥
I shed many tears of joy for Shirley although my heart broke for her handler having to bid her farewell..:( ...

What is their story during the 22 years of separation...they have some awful scars...what happened to them to be so beat up? It breaks my heart...they look like they have endured a lot of suffering
@mariamtoure1 Yes, they had horrific lives before retiring to The Elephant Sanctuary which is why they are so scarred and lame. It is indeed heartbreaking. Go to elephants[dot]com and look up their stories. Jenny has sadly passed away since this video and so is in theIr In Memory section of Meet Our Elephants, Shirley is in the Asian Elephants section.
@HippieGirlClaire Oh yes, made me cry too, I could have filled buckets!! The reunion is so moving but it also makes you feel so sad and very angry too at what humans did to these majestic creatures for so long!!
This is so heartbreaking. God, how can we be so incredibly cruel to our fellow living creatures?

We need to think about the next time if and when we decide to go to the circus...as long as there are circuses...elephants will be chained.

I am confused. Who is the guy? Did he have the elephant (his friend) chained up for 20 years?
