• seemed Jay Chou had a hard time keeping up with Yundi Li...

  • Where / When was this live ?

  • I love how they're alluding to the Volodos paraphrase. With more practice that would have been very tasteful.

  • Musisz Trochę Poćwiczyć

  • 0:10 0:13 To Był Sąsiad Pomyliłeś Się Znacznie Lepiej

  • why was there so many errors when in fact yundi li is a pianist??? or the key was only malfunctioned????

  • Wrong key . 0:11

  • EARGASM!

  • Both have completely different professions!

  • Everyone Type "Won" Before youtube.com

  • My two favorites!!! That's so cool how they are playing together!!!

Jia you Zhou Jie Lun!!! Jia you Yundi Li!

  • People who are comparing Chou to Li have no idea what the two do professionally. Why would you put Jay Chou down anyway? Just because he isn't a professional classical pianist like Yundi Li who has been sight-reading since birth? Li is a performer, Chou is a composer. You cannot compare the two's abilities from this one video. It's ignorant, especially if you're a musician yourself. Besides, Yundi knew this song by heart BEFORE this anyway and could play with his eyes clothes...

  • @itsanthonyhere I don't think either of them were sightreading

  • @ilikehaku1100 Yundi wasn't, but Jay was. Why else would he be struggling? Because he knew the piece perfectly already and wanted to make mistakes on purpose?

  • @itsanthonyhere This is a moderately easy piece that's very commonly learned. Jay Chou could handle a slowed opening of Op. 10 no. 5 so I doubt that he doesn't already know this piece.

  • @ilikehaku1100 What do you mean he could handle, you mean sight read? He doesn't need to play it slowed lol.

  • @itsanthonyhere Jay Chou could play the opening of the Black Key Etude with a slower tempo quite cleanly. With his musical background, it's safe to assume that he's been playing for awhile. Rondo Alla Turca is a piece that almost all pianists know so he probably already knows Rondo Alla Turca and thus, wouldn't need to sightread. Furthermore, if they're putting on a performance like this , it's only logical that he had practice with it beforehand.

  • @ilikehaku1100 He could play a ton of Chopin music at the regular tempos..as he was one of his favorite composers to learn growing up. Plus, most of his life was spent with a very strict piano practice schedule. If he wasn't sight-reading, then why was he struggling? This was a different version, and there were several chords/rhythms different from the regular version. He's obviously going off the music here, or else he wouldn't be making mistakes. I just don't get your logic here lol

  • Yundi played those variations not from the score but interpreted it.. so well..

    a 15 years old!

  • to Yundi Li it was peanuts, and Jay Chou was STRUGGLING!!! struggling with the tempo....

  • Even Yundi Li missed notes. I believe he thought: Jay chou is so terrible, I can't let him look like too bad. So I should miss several notes to accompany him.

    HAHAHAHA~LOL~

  • this performance became dirty... well its okay to add but there was too many mistakes

  • yundi li is trying to play volodos' version

  • Yundi Li sounds as unprofessional as Jay Chou does....what a life.

  • @yanxiaoyi I wonder, because this is online, and your reputation remains unknown to us, is the reason you lash out against your peers? I would love to see you put up a video of yourself doing better than Yundi Li. Send me the link once you have done so.

  • @inamabilisoppa First of all, unlike Yundi Li, I'm not doing this as my CAREER. Is it what you mean that common listeners have no right to comment on a pianist's skill? By the way, I'm way too honored to be imagined as one of Yundi's peers, lol~

  • @yanxiaoyi I understand that you are probably not considering a musician as a career, however, the way you criticized them was quite rude. "Yundi Li sounds as unprofessional as Jay Chou does....what a life." By that, do you mean that Yundi Li has wasted much of his life, to display an unprofessional performance? I personally find criticism very useful in my own development, however, your criticism had a good amount of "venom."

  • @yanxiaoyi But please, do not take this as a front-out offense, for I wish to at least make neutral, not enemies (I already have enough of them-.-)

  • whoa - I was surprised of the change! Very interesting addition.

  • so pro

  • lmao jay chou come on man u make yundi li look bad ahaha.

  • that sounded kinda flat... but ah well, can't expect him to match up to someone who's been playing the piano professionally for like forever haha cute performance

  • I also have to admit that Yundi Li is a basically on of the best piano prodigy, but u should know that Jay Chou more creative many ways and plays more friendly and easier songs for people not that close to piano. Peace Out ; )

  • I admit that Jay Chou is hotter, but obviously he's nowhere near as prodigal as Yundi Li is with the piano. YUNDI LI<333

  • @elixiress how is Jay Chou hotter? He looks like a rat, but even some people may find rat faced people hot. Are you going to say Jay Chou is hotter than a young Andy Lau?

  • awesome. must have been a great deal of fun, gonna try this with my friends sometime (:

  • not much emotion, but that was really good as two people playing as one

  • nice!!! :)

  • nah he's not homo, c'mon, he got engaged i guess.

which made me pretty sad cuz i got a crush on him. lol

  • Of course not, and Yundi was seen hanging out with his girlfriend in Beijing recently

  • Well I don't pay attention to their everyday lives, that's just wasting time, I just was a bit curious that's all, I wasn't sure whether he was or not. But thank-you very much for clarifying it for me.

  • where does this performance show that he might be homo? Just because two guys played together? Be more open minded pls as not every where in the world makes such a deal of seeing only guys/girls doing something together. I used to hold hands with my girl friends all the time and sometime even sleeps in the same bed, but that does not mean anything close to being homo. It's just another culture difference. U.S is abssessed with someone being homo on seeing the slightest closeness between friends.

  • I wasn't saying it because of his performance, this piece was originally meant to include two players it was just later improvised to be played by one. But I was simply curious and wanted to know. And just to let you know I don't have anything against gay people, they want to be together? So be it.

  • I understand that you did no mean it. However I wonder what prompts your original question when you indicated this performance looks kind of gay. Actually I know people here would say that, and I just want to point out that's not the case in other parts of the world.

  • This piece was designed for a duet, not a copy.... Its not the same as Volodos, and quite frankly, quite a lot of people CAN play volodos' version of rondo alla turca. It seems that they were sight reading too, so yundi li can play it without a problem.

  • huh, Yundi Li and Jay, they both were trying to copy Volodos's style. They can never catch up with Volodos, they still have long long way to catch up with Volodos. Volodos can play this like 4 hands playing together.

  • Poor jay chou cant keep up! :P

  • yundi li covered jay chou's errors.

  • love them both =] its like 2 worlds merging

  • Jay made so many mistakes...

  • this is kinda cool

one pop artist one classical musician! both are awesome!

  • i don't know why the media kept on stressing the fact that jay can play the piano. in all reality, he practically can't play the piano, other than really the really kiddy stuff.

  • ya they missed couple notes but it was a great show

  • It seems that its kinda a prima vista (first time seeing a note) they are doing :P and som impro at the end. But they are great!! 1. 50 is really cool !!

  • so many mistakes on an easy piece!

  • lol so true

  • Good thing Yundi spices it up with his virtuosity, to make up for Chou's deficiency.

  • True, though it seemed like sight reading. Really, it's not that bad ^o^

    *clap clap* x3

  • 哇,老shining了!

  • that was amazing.

  • the second half is inspired by Volodos lol

  • @YakiS0BA: You obviously know nothing about piano... The tempo was built this way you f***

  • Comment removed

  • jay chou is so terrible clearly falls behind yundi many times lolz

  • not a huge fan of jay chou, but hes not an pianist like yundi.... his talent is based on his creativity in composing songs in the pop music industry, so they work in different areas and you can't really compare

  • still quiet amazing for a pop artist to be able to achieve a level of understanding for classical music too. most of the western pop artists simply pale in comparison

  • @YakiS0BA Much of Yundi's career is sight-reading. He has been doing it nearly every day for his entire life. Jay can to a degree, but not that fast...it's not what he is known for.

  • amazing !!!

  • hmmm...interesting version. Some parts sounded exactly like Hamelin's version. Gotta love the random "Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2 ending". Classic.

  • that's very hard to play 1 hand with person//

    try it...

  • This is not a challenging piece at all.. I played this .. But still really well done.

  • i think some parts are from the volodos paraphrase??

  • ahaha :D

I play this paraphrase and and just have viewed a few pieces from yundi li and saw now this (think the third time) and was curious about the end because i thougt it was the same. you are right xD

  • Well Jay's using his left hand . . . I think hes not bad. . . But Yundi is obviously much better since he is a professional pianist.

  • yundi li looked like he was having fun..jay looked like he was struggling though hehe

i don't know why anyone even bothers comparing the 2. yundi li is a PROFESSIONAL pianist. jay CAN play the piano, but not professionally.

nice try though. i would've been scared shitless to play the piano with yundi li, even if i were jay chou.

  • agreed.

  • wait , is that jay chou?? it doens't look like him . the left one

  • oh this was 2002 so jay had a different hair style

  • que pro xd

  • lol

you see yundi all like, pft easy stuff

and then you look at jay chou and hes all like, DAYUMMMM, yundi is too pro for me :P

  • haha, jay plays like the super easy part

  • i hear a lot of mistakes on jay's part, i love jay, but this is like making miley cyrus sing a duet with mariah carey, novices and virtuosos should not perform together.....but good effort anyways jay, still mad respect

  • in this case who controls the pedal eh?

  • when i do that with my friend i usually play the left hand part and also the pedal

  • jay made a wrong move to play together with Yundi.

  • The Chinese translation was wrongly "March of the Turks (the people)". It should have been March of the Turkey {like chicken).

  • rondo alla turka= Turkish march:)

  • omg jay's screwing everything up.

this "collaboration" is so bad for yundi's image as a top-notch musician.

  • i totally agree with you..

they both live in 2 different worlds..not suppose to play together..

  • Uh, this video was shot YEARS ago. Yundi Li didn't have much of an image at the time.

I wonder if Volodos made his transcription before or after this version though, I see a lot of VERY similar passages in both.

  • When did Volodo make that transcription?

  • 1996. =)

  • no, he's humble, man =)

  • how can you compare jay chou with li yundi i am #$@&ing serious..... i mean jay still has pretty good movies!!!

  • Fenomeni da baraccone per il popolo bue!

  • Seriously. This Jay is messing up some real simple things because he tries to own Yundi by playing with two hands. Jay: you cannot own Li. Li owns you HARD!

  • Yundi is king!! I do agree that Jay didnt really seem to respect Yundi much....

  • both players r my fans i lov them

  • One of the greatest pianists at this very moment... Wearing the leather suit in this vid.

  • No he's the better guy

  • lol!

  • merci de l'interprétation,j'adore vous écouter

    je ne m'en lasse pas....

    odette

  • jay is a singer but not a pianist.

  • messed up

  • this is too simple a piece for yundi

  • Obviously Yundi is much more better than jay,

bu jay is not a pianist anyway...

    he juz enjoy music,

there's no nid to attack him like this..

  • Jay is a pianist. He's from Taiwan and has written like 50 songs. He's a classical trained pianist. Only different compared to Yundi is Jay ended up going into the entertainment industry.

  • That and the fact that Li Yundi won the Chopin international competition that no one had won for years because they weren't good enough.

Jay's a good composer, but his Piano skills can not be compared to Li Yundi who is probably the world's top young pianist.

  • this is a duet, not a competition.

it's AWESOME how well-rounded Jay is musically!!!!!

  • No offence, I hate to say this but I think Jay made far too many mistakes...

  • yundi another Libai...

    elegant..graceful..

  • there's nothing to blame Chou's piano skills, he is better than normal, but looks awkward when Chou plays with Yundi Li. Yundi Li is a pianist, that's his job, but Chou's job is singing.

  • the class is simply different..

  • jay chou is a COMPOSER, a SINGER. he is good at the piano, but he doesn't indulge into it as much as yundi li does. yundi li was brought up as a pianist only, and he got famous due to his piano skills. jay chou got famous as a pop star, a composer, having composed over 100 songs for other artists alone. you cannot compare their piano skills - please - just like you can't compare their composing or singing skills.

  • Jay is a great actor too XD

  • How can't you compare?

Li Yundi absolutely pwns anyone in piano.

If Li Yundi sang or composed you could compare.

  • both are good! i think jay chou plays very well in secret .

  • Why on earth would he want to appear to play worse than he actually does?

  • yay!!! yundi roxx!! =D

  • Build up your technique before going on stage with a world-class pianist, Jay!

  • totally agree. jay seems like very enjoy n proud to work wif yundi although i personally think he did not respect yundi as world class pianist

  • Yundi owns.

The level difference is quite obvious. Good luck jayz =]

  • wow jay chou made so many mistakes....and plus he's playing all the easy parts i agree with hanw

  • NOot Bad!

  • There's nothing 'gay' about the way they're sitting. They're playing a duet at the piano, which requires sitting close to each other. Please leave your homopbobia and ignorance at the door.

  • does anybody know where i can get this score?

  • ONline!

  • I can email it to you if you want, just give me your email address.

  • true, i have to say jay's actual piano playings isn't skilled at all actually, he jus have to hide his flaws n act as a real good music-talented artistie to the public(just like the recent movie secret). the real pro pianist is yundi. no offence to all

  • Yea exactly... I thought he was slightly comparable to Yundi but this video totally made me change my mind.

Then again it was his movie (he either directed or wrote the story, can't remember). Of course he would want to use it to brighten his image.

  • noob jay chou lol...this song only nids 1 player with 2 hands...n the arrangement makes this song sounds like helling sxxt...i love yundi li but not jay chou...next time better play at ur own maybe i will love ur playing, jay chou...

  • 0__________________________________o|||WOW~!

    SO SPEECHLESS~!! haha~!

eventhough i dun like Jay chou,u've gotta give him creadit to this performance.XD

It's so funny to see them perform. honestly, their performances to their parts didnt really go together...but it was fun to watch..=P

    Go Yundi Li~!!^^

  • hahahaha. wow. i love jay chou and yundi li...but i never imagined this. nevertheless, they are totally different levels of piano but wow, still, kudos to jay for his effort
i'd faint if i found out i got an oppertunity to play along the famous yundi li
and to heygetalife....don't be so rude, as if he got to choose his name. geez

  • i hate to say this but it sounds really terrible, so much dissonnances which are not suppose to be there...

  • A lively tune played by two of my most favorite musicians!

  • I wanna have this sheet! ^^ I love them!... and I don't care, how talentod or famous they're... they're so good... OMG... *_____*

  • yundi is definately better than jay chou, yep, much better to be even precisely speaking.

  • Just boring. In this case I prefer Cirque du Soleil.

  • Are you trying to say that the 2 of them playing is as funny as a circus? (though some Cirque du Soleil performances aren't really funny...)

  • Bravo!! That was real gud!!

  • LOL ... I wonder what they were doing with their other hand in the first minute of the piece. Must be tapping out the beats on each other's legs or something... so synchronised, awesome!

  • i just want that piano

  • its an arrangement. cant be that hard.

  • this is definitely an arrangement. very nice :)

  • I would be quite impressised if this was improvised synchronized? It seems like arranged to me. Who is Jay Chou? I see in wikipedia that he is a musician and singer specialized in R&B and rap. But is he also a pianist?

  • Jay Chou is a VERY famous Chinese singer in Asia who has only in the past few years migrated over to rap. His old stuff (and in my opinion, better) was more soft , cute pop. He plays the piano, cello, and a few other instruments. Very talented.

  • Yundi li is MUCH MUCH MUCH MORE FAMOUS and TALENTED than jay chou. look at his name, jay? OMG.

  • He's not more famous.

He is more talented at the piano though, that's for sure.

    Jay is talented at composing.

  • jay is playing the easier part of the song. yundi is good. everything is so precise.
