  • Well there's quite a few to be getting on with, thanks for the suggestions! I'm considering doing an Irish Studies degree or perhaps Celtic studies, which involves a lot of history, so your lessons and some of these books should be a great help in filling in the gaps in my knowledge. Thanks again.

  • I have next to no knowledge of Irish history, to my shame. Could you recommend any books you have found useful, which are approachable and comprehensive? That would be really good.

  • Well, concerning the period (16th century) in which Pat's discussing, you could look for the books: _Tyrone's Rebellion_ by Hiram Morgan, _An Exile of Ireland, Hugh O'Neill, Prince of Ulster_ by Micheline Kerney Walsh, _Elizabeth's Irish Wars_ by Cyril Falls, _The Twilight Lords_ by Richard Berleth, _The Great O'Neill_ by Sean O'Faolain.
