The piano melodies are beautiful and the artwork is outstanding. You can feel her loneliness and how her cat loves her and tries to understand her, it's a lonely world you know.. but I guess they both like it, and so do I.

Makoto is an excellent director and Tenmon is a extremely talented composer!.. simply the best!**

@JosephPage Well actually it was only Chobi but if I remember correctly Akari says "Oh it's Chobi, he looks lonely without Mimi" or something like that to Takaki. It was in one of the flashbacks he had while riding the train.

@waxclover It's kind of poorly translated. He finished living his first year and she and he both thought "I really like this world". The girl gets over her tragedy (whatever it is) and moves on with life. The cat continues living as well. Happy ending!

That scentence always makes me cry like hell. It really describes the deep bond beetween a cat and his owner with just a few words. And the love you receive from an animal is always so unconditional, it's definitely one of the greatest things you can ever experience.

God, I can't stop crying... This movie is really one of a kind, a true masterpiece.

I seen "Ef A Tale of Memories/Melodies" it was beautifully done arts and story. But then I came across Makoto Shinkai's work of "5 cm per sec" and I was amazed by the level of details and the strong, deep yet sad story.

I must be sick today because I haven't understand the concept of his for work. From the reviews I read, it must have a very deep meaning but I don't understand. Sorry to ask but can someone explain?

One of those things u cant explain. It was somehow, 4 unknown reasons close. Strange when u think that it's just 5 minutes... Thought some people even in 30 minutes cant say or show anything useful. i agree 5cm is a beautiful movie but "the promissed place in our earlier days" (the title might be not quite right, sry) is my favorite. especially the scene where the main charachter seems to have lost his world and shuts himself in in his dark room T_T
