The sad thing is that even if every one of us sent Hillary Clinton a letter stating why we want to see Autism Speaks declared a terrorist organisation, she would not listen because of all the dollars being waved at her. If the Founding Fathers could see what the world is turning into with this kind of Tyranny Of The Majority and conformity at the point of a (surgical) knife being considered acceptable, they would probably declare their little experiment in government a failure.

So my question is, is the organization Autism Speaks researching ways to find out if a child is autistic or not before they are born in order to decide on abortion or not?

But I'm not sure I would put autistic people and african-americans in the same category.

Not to be offensive, but finding out if my baby was autistic or not would, I think, help. I could better prepare myself for the child, but of course it's not like it's some terrible disorder that no one would want anyone else to have or anything like that.

The United Nations' criteria for social minority status applies equally to black Americans and the autistic. Just felt the need to point that out.

Experience has already shown that when pre-natal tests exist, a whopping percentage of fetuses that test positive to the "undesirable" trait in question are aborted regardless of any questions regarding the accuracy of the test. Such has been the case with Down's Syndrome already. How many times does history have to repeat?

I know that there is work being done on a prenatal test for autism. I wouldn't be surprised if autism speaks has funded that. As aspie182 pointed out, prenatal tests will invariably lead to eugenic abortion. If they started doing prenatal tests for skin color, people would be up in arms over it.

There is a slogan repeated by autistic adults the world over: Autism Speaks Does Not Speak For Me.

This is a group that uses slanted and distorted images of us to solicit funds to the tune of tens of millions of dollars, but never spends a red cent consulting us about what we want done with that cash. Incentives for employers to hire us, supported housing in areas where we can access specialised assistance... not a penny. Cures we DO NOT WANT? Watch them fall over themselves with your money.

I think that you are looking at this all wrong. Autism speaks is geared toward children with Autism and most children, Not all, but most with autism tend to have difficulty with social skills and communicating with others.

No, I am not looking at this wrongly in any conceivable way. Autism Speaks uses images of the autistic that are misleading at best and dehumanising at worst to solicit funds to finance efforts to take away the very thing that differentiates us from those who have in many cases abused us. Then they refuse to even talk to us about how the funds they have exploited us in order to solicit should be spent. They are to the autistic what the Ku Klux Klan are to African Americans.

Ask anyone else who is an autistic adult and they will all tell you the same thing. Autism Speaks uses us in a dehumanising, exploitative way. They do not do one ounce of good for us at all. Christschool has already posted an excellent video in which he lists the things Autism Speaks did with the cash fools like you have donated and which much more helpful use that money could have gone towards. The autistic are speaking, and they are saying they want Autism Speaks to shut the fukk up!

I have looked at Autism speaks tax return. None of the money goes directly to helping autistic people. Most of it goes to research, which is for the goal of making sure people like me and aspie182 will no longer exist. So keep in mind that when you donate to autism speaks you are funding eugenics. They are a hate group advocating the elimination of a whole group of people. In much the same way as Nazi organizations are hate groups advocating the elimination of Jews.

Difficulties with social skills goes along with autism. Autism speaks isn't really geared toward children. It's geared toward eugenics. Their goal is to prevent people like me and aspie182 from ever being born. They aren't out there to help autistic kids or anyone else with autism. They don't help parents pay for services their kids need. They simply use kids as tools of propaganda. In much the same way as the MDA uses kids with muscular dystrophy to illicit pity and donations.

Did you call her office to arrange a meeting? If she is mistaken then tell her staff. After listening to you and they do nothing then you can bash her. Make sure you also bring proof so they can act on it.

I've been to a meeting with my state senator's top aide; he says yes we need to do something; we'll see what we can do; we'll get back to you; then nothing.

Our members in NY met with Clinton's staff and were able to get legislation in our favor.

I fail to see the correlation between the Combatting Autism Act and legislation in our favour. Legislation in our favour would be the subsidy of housing in locations where psychological specialists who meet with our approval are known to exist, not facilitation of ignorant parents believing they would rather have a dead child than an autistic child.

I feel the books currently in print do us more of a disservice than any good. All my parents did after I was diagnosed was sit and read books, read more books, and then read some more books, all while offering three fifths of no help to do anything. Eventually I got pissed off and told them I am not in a book, and as far as I am concerned they are strangers to me.

I would burn every book on autism twice over if it would help people like my parents to actually listen and learn.

Absolutely! Great analogy! This stuff isn't far fetched at all. Just look at the mission statement on their website. "We are dedicated to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for autism". Replace the word autism with, black, jew, you get my point. If a non profit wanted to cure and prevent blackness or jewness there would be public outrage. But sadly many people are ok with keeping people like me from existing. Hillary isn't going to get my vote.

Autism Speaks does not speak for me. That's the catchcry of just about every adult who happens to be autistic today. Autism Speaks parades negative imagery of us around in a similar fashion to how the Nazis sold the extermination of the disabled and infirm in film, yet they refuse to talk to any of us about how the substantial funds they solicit should be expended.

So if that is not enough reason to oppose a Presidential candidate who is friendly to them, then pray tell: what is?
