I knew John and the band. Wonder if that's Sam Armstrong on the drums. Sam was my brother-in-law...Waves to the Guys......great guys n fun to party with. Used to watch the shows all the time when they were in town. John has a CD out also which has some great songs on it. =))
Ernie Fields is the ORIGINAL PRODUCER of this Classic Song. Good to know the DYNAMIC DUO BEHIND this MEGA SONG, Johnny Ellison & Ernie Fields are still around to see thier works become such a HIT. Ernie Fields met The SOUL BROTHERS SIX in 1967. He took them into the Studio, RECORDED this GREAT SONG . The Song became to BIG for Ernie to Handle. He Then worked a deal with (Jerry Wexler) Atlantic Records. Google Ernie and you might get to hear the REAL MASTER with Johnny's OUT TAKES and ALL!
I had the honour of playing in a fundraiser In Dundas Ontario where John also played. He rocked the house. Nice guy - shops at Metro here in town just like the rest of us...
played music with this guy, he is one of my grandpa's friends. my grandpa is actually the reason he plays the traveling guitar. he is awesome to jam with.
