You make a good argument. The problem is there is no solution. Even if the economy came back, it's built to fail. There are no solutions. I think the government is doing the best they can to salvage the economy...if it works we'll get a couple more good years.

See, since August of last year, the Federal Reserve has printed $2 trillion of paper money, all of which is now sitting in the banks, so when you say they're "showered" with money, it's only fiat money. Funny money.

The offset is the folks that no longer qualify to be counted under u3 because they have been unemployed too long and no longer qualify for unemployment benefits. These folks drop off the number by hundreds of thousands. From now on because of this phenomenon the total unemployed will remain about the same. So we need to look at u6 total unemployed. When that number starts going down then we have some good news.
By now it should be clear. It's the bankers that control the world not goverments. It takes a very wise leader to control the bankers. Wealthy people can live with complaints about how unfair they are but poor people don't seem to understand that living costs and the cost goes up with each new being brought into the world.

Yes, back in 07 I got wind of this economic meltdown. I had already prepared a bit due to possible issues with peak oil. That's why I became a transit bus mechanic. It's paid off. As people grow less wealthy and gas goes up, my overtime goes up. There's no danger of layoffs either.
Got an 18 month rotating pantry, guns, ammo, a 60mph/80mpg scooter for when gas gets expensive, & a mega-huge 4wd dodge pickup as my bug out vehicle. Do I feel ready? Nope not really.
About the H1N1, I'll avoid it like the plague. God knows they shot me full of all kinds of garbage while I was in the army. I'll delay as long as possible and then only get it if they fine me more than a few thousand or drag me down by force. Good analogy. Getting worse less is not actually getting better. Unemployement ? The way they collect data means you could not even tell when the economy is really better, because people not in the stats would have to land jobs, or better jobs. That makes the numbers even more useless.
Lets hear about demand for manufacturing full time jobs is going like crazy. Lets hear about unions improving wages & hours at walmart and mcdonalds. Lets hear about bailouts paid back.

When jobs reports dont "beat" the estimate then they say job reports are not a lead economic indicator. lol

As an american she never heared of U3 and U6 unemployment statistics and insited in our polititcal discussion that there are ony 9 mil jobless. She was beautiful girl but dumb as hell. A young lady knocked on my door today, said she was with a Pro Healthcare reform group & asked me did I support the plan and did I support the President.
She had my name, I guess from voter roles & was checking off my answers then asked me to contact my senator(she wrote my Senators Phone # on the Brochure) about this. And left a brochure.

A buddy of mine dodged a 6% company-wide layoff in July of a fairly large company. All those people received severance, so they might not show up on the unemployment claims right away. That doesn't change the fact that they're now unemployed.
The green shoots turned out to be weeds.

The headline in today's "Press Democrat" of Santa Rosa, CA is that the vineyards can't find buyers for their grapes even though prices are down 30% from last year. New vineyards are still going in, though. The number of illegal immigrants I notice on the streets seems to be going down. Change is on the way.

So true hun! Also, I've noticed that your usual heavy Friday traffic on the highway's is now becoming slim to none. People aren't traveling to go to work and/or to shop. Have you noticed that the prices on used cars are now going through the roof? They are becoming scarce to buy now because of the "Cash for Clunkers". The trade-ins are to be destroyed. And, the finance outfits have been holding off on repossessing vehicles to help raise the prices on used cars too.

The offset is the folks that no longer qualify to be counted under u3 because they have been unemployed too long and no longer qualify for unemployment benefits. These folks drop off the number by hundreds of thousands. From now on because of this phenomenon the total unemployed will remain about the same. So we need to look at u6 total unemployed. When that number starts going down then we have some good news.

Exactly as others have said. The unemployment numbers went down because benefits are expiring. That just converts long time unemployed into welfare recipients.
I considered selling the condo and buying a house but now I'm glad I didn't. Yes my condo value is dropping a bit but nowhere near what home owners are experiencing. Plus I'm only 24k away from paying this place off. Imagine it! Being a debt free homeowner! That will be great, even if my home is only a condo.

Yes, back in 07 I got wind of this economic meltdown. I had already prepared a bit due to possible issues with peak oil. That's why I became a transit bus mechanic. It's paid off. As people grow less wealthy and gas goes up, my overtime goes up. There's no danger of layoffs either.
Got an 18 month rotating pantry, guns, ammo, a 60mph/80mpg scooter for when gas gets expensive, & a mega-huge 4wd dodge pickup as my bug out vehicle. Do I feel ready? Nope not really.

About the H1N1, I'll avoid it like the plague. God knows they shot me full of all kinds of garbage while I was in the army. I'll delay as long as possible and then only get it if they fine me more than a few thousand or drag me down by force. If it's forced on me I'll drink as much water as possible just before and for several days after and do the best I can to purge it out of my system. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
