  • Really cool video!

Here are some tech comments from the designer and developer of the eGull motor; thats me.

Kelly Controller calls it the 500 A type, because it can deliver 500 A peak for one minute. But the continous current is only 250 A. So the controller is not too big; it is just right with some headroom for a little bit more power. The power consumption is mainly given by the propeller diameter and pitch.

For more information about the motor search for "Forschungsbuero".

  • Thank you, Zach. really nice video, wish there was like surround sound to make out the whispers over the t-rexs. that u turn was neat, almost like a rotation. did Mark pull off an impossible 360 too at arlington, engine switched off, <500ft, <2mins?

  • @rahulchou Thanks for watching! And no, he didn't.

  • Wait so 18 or 20 amp speed controller?

  • @chosen1007R You idiot it says 250 amps.

  • Are there many of these (or very similar) in use? I believe I saw one in the air north of Canyon, Texas at about 1:30 PM on 7/10/11.

  • @creekriot thanks for watching. And no, not that I know of, but im sure there are other electric planes around, if that's what you mean.

  • @RedDevilSquadron Thank YOU for the great video. What an INCREDIBLE airplane! I was driving when I saw one that was similar and first thought that it was an ultralight. About the time I realized that it was too large for an ultralight, I noticed that there was no fuselage between the cabin and tail. I found myself doubting what I thought I had seen.

  • How many Amps is it pulling on a cruise speed?

    & Total Lipo Capacity?

  • About 250 amps. The ESC is a prototype 500amp, so its much bigger than necessary. And not sure on the total capacity. Thanks for watching

  • Hey Zach...thanks for posting this! I saw this at the fly-in and was very curious about it. I think an electric ultralight is awesome. Sounds like a T-Rex 700E :-)

  • very very cool!! awesome vid

  • LOL hes using HK batteries
