Yea, it's cool that you get 100 heroes and all... but making sure everyone's equipment is up to date after a mission is going to be a BITCH after you unlock a few... It was obnoxious enough in the Beta when I only had 10 guys unlocked. But, as that is my only real issue with the game... I'll probably get it.

I played the beta, it was amazing. There's 100 different spores, don't worry about variety and customization, there is. Plus, I played the entire weekend and had over 400 different items.

Yeah, it's all very nice and dandy, until u have like 4-5 squads of 3 heroes each taht u have to keep track of, then u have to think what parts are best for each class/type and element, then u have to clean up your inventory of spare parts that u dont need...

If u want to have your best heroes in tip top shape u will have to spend a lot more time in the hero editor than u actually do playing. At least in diablo u only had one chr to worry about :P.

I have played with almost all the heroes, but there was only one that was truly devastating to hordes of enemy darkspore. Viper.

He is deadly in melee combat, but, surprisingly to me, he had the most powerful dot/aoe in the game. Not to mention his powerful single target attack that did double dmg to infected targets.

With 2 dot/aoe and one powerful melee attack he is the most deadly dps hero in the game.

I hope they tone him down for pvp use...

@mancamiatipoola was he the nature guy with the claws? If so, I played that character second most! I just really liked Vex's mobility and single target damage better :D though I prolly used Viper more for general PvE and Vex for bosses

Vex had good single target dmg, but nothing compared to Viper with poison on targets. I made a killer combo. He got enrage from Arboreus and shadow bolts (does dmg and heals the user slightly) from Arkana. I once killed a boss in under 20s with Viper enraged and using all his attacks. Arboreus gives the best bonus of any tank to any melee hero, but with Viper it was amazingly effective. He became an agent of poison and destruction >:)

Vex only had 1 attack that did good dmg.

I WAS referring to Arboreus and, no, u are wrong, Arboreus is a good tank (from the ones i have seen up to level 14). I'm sure there are better tanks out there, but we haven't seen them yet.

I was hoping for something more like...Making your own hero from scratch, sort of like what Spore did with its creatures. I understand adding and upgrading heroes is cool and all, but it'd be nice to be able to add your own hero to this all star cast so to speak.

@theluiginater but if you were able to do that the game wouldn't be an effective PvP hack 'n' slash, learning the abilities and weaknesses of the numerous classes will be a big part of the PvP section of the game - and there are so many different heros and the editor tool is so deep and flexible (especially at higher levels) that you will pretty much be able to make anything you want :)

I've seen some very impressive spore creations and I liked the creatures I made in the original Spore. I just wanted to be able to remake THOSE to fight along side the new heroes. I rather like what they did in DarkSpore. The game is not without its flaws, but Maxis seems keen on trying to fix all the errors.

Having pre-set heroes to, um "dick" around with is fine. It's great seeing what other people have done to their Blitz's, or Zrin's, etc. It's inspiring.

@theluiginater Not to mention people who aren't serious about the game or solely some little kid might make a really shitty creation (I've seen too many of those getting high ratings on the 'pedia). Even if it's not reproductive organs, I wouldn't want to see heroes that look like letters or food items, no matter how well made they are. It kills the entire mood of the game, as Ayrebird said. We're not going to have aliens that look human in RL, and I know people will go Eye-Candy with creations.

it's not "inspired" by Spore's creature creator, it's stealing the captain editor! The hero editor was put in just to attract spore players to it (which it isn't doing too well, I might add). To me this games seems like just a bad april fools joke, or a release of an experiment.
