dammit, leave out all the religious questions. i dont beleive in god, but U2 is amazing. i love all of their work. hopefully they will be with us for a long time, but just cut down on the religion comments.
@DirectMain how do you have a discussion about U2 and NOT discuss God? It isn't an issue if you don't believe in God. But U2 clearly does. and their lyrics/music are FILLED with religious references.
I saw them in 1983 at a club for 7 dollars...i knew then that they were going to be big..they had the same sound, dynamic, and their songs meant something, a lot of power and passion behind them all, plus they had a unique sound that differed from anybody eles. Sure enough, one year later they were play in stadiums and they still have the same power behind their music. They really are a global band and do make a difference. Cant wait to see them June 17th at Anaheim.
U2, is a band that is touched by the hand of God. The reason their music is in our soul is because eash, and every song they do is crafted in a way to make you feel a certain feeling. To me, it's "Bad", I was about 14 or so, and listen to that song hundreds of times, it did chance my perception on life, and my own beliefs. We are very lucky to have had the chance to be born in their era. Let's hope, and pray they be with us forever.
@timmunozlasvegas Theologian Eugene Peterson thinks so, too: "Is U2 a prophetic voice? I rather think so. And many of my friends think so. If they do not explicitly proclaim the Kingdom, they certainly prepare the way for that proclamation in much the same way that John the Baptist prepared the way for the kerygma of Jesus...Amos crafted poems, Jeremiah wept sermons, Isaiah alternately rebuked and comforted, Ezekiel did street theater. U2 writes songs and goes on tour, singing them."
I feel the same way. It was "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" that made me fall in love with the band. It's pretty much the song of my life. LOL!
for me, it was during the beginning of popmart tour, pbs did a run on rattle&hum, i heard silver & gold! the first time i heard ONE, i was driving, i had to pull over & listen to the rest of it. after the song was over i just sat stunned, looking at my radio.

That's a semi-acoustic. And you can connect pedals to it too just as you do to an electric twanger. Hence the reverbation.
