I loved reading all these people arguing over who's the better singer, especially that line "i could sing better than her (Perry)". Dude if you could sing better than her, why arnt you?? It just reminds me of all those people on Idol who are like "i sing better than Maria and Gwen Steffani" and then get up then and they are rubbish. To be fair she doesn't sound that bad, i mean she doesn't sound offensive like T-pain or anything. Besides she is not hard on the eyes - it could be so much worse

All I have to say, is for all the people claiming this as "amazing" and saying Katy Perry "has an amazing voice!"...you're all either deaf, or don't know what good singing is.

This is horrible singing. Just horrible. Thankfully I grew up in a generation where talent wasn't a lost cause and people knew what "amazing" was.

Nowadays, all there is is Taylor Swifts, Katy Perrys, Britney Spears, etc...and folks act like they can really sing! sad really...

Second of all, there's a number of artists that aren't very talented signed to labels, she's certainly not the first moron. Katy is not really "great" singer but she is decent meaning she hits the notes about 1/2 to 3/4 of the time but lacks real control and always comes out sounding strained. Wow she's really terrible. I was watching her E! special and thought if the Nashville scouts were paying attention to her early on, she must be talented, but no. Either she's been so studio-fied by this point there's no semblance of her original singing/songwriting talent, or she's just really bad. Cold or no.

Does she know she stole the title of "I Kissed A Girl" from Liz Phair, and that even though that was a pretty annoying song, her song is even worse? Or is she just too young?

I never implied Katy was a bad rock singer, just that she was blowing out her voice, and her songwriting is fucking terrible. I'd be interested to learn your qualifications, other than a 1st grade understanding of phonics and English composition. (and my greatest apologies if English is your second language, as I hope it is)

@60sisthashit Almost every single note is out of tune. Her tone is terrible. She has about a 1/2 octave range - and her songwriting reflects it: she only writes songs where she sings about 5 notes. Her passagio is terrible - this is not a comment on her having a cold. An impressive passagio control demonstrates a similar timbre between both the chest and head voice. She actually has a lovely head voice but has no ability to control the break. Also, "sellingnumbers" is not a word.
