  • glad I am helping ;)

  • Thank you very much for this. It has proved most useful. :-)

  • just work on your edge flow better and press the 3 number and you'll see you don't need all that process

  • @alx21creations

true you can do that, but it doesn;t replace a shader calculation at render time, depends on the situation

and ye one of the reasons they did the roundCorners, is to prevent people from spending a lot of time working on their edge workflow, and transfer a part of that step to the renderer

  • @alx21creations yeah but you will get a higher polycount with the 3 button. You will get 3 times more polys. And its just a preview of your smooth. mia_roundcorners doesnt add any polys in the viewport.

  • Thanks buddy. I was doing it completely reverse.

  • Well made and comprehensive tutorial! Nice music in the background too haha.

*Note: I think anyone using a more recent version of Maya, would likely use mia_material_x, and not mia_material. In such a case, you would plug in mia_roundcorners into the "overall" bump slot.

  • great tutorial! i was looking for a 3dmax mental ray equivalent to this "round corner" specialty. thank you for your time and for sharing!!

  • thanks!

  • Thx ! Very useful
