The grand funk railroad Sounds good doing a Little Eva song. I have a U28B Athearn NYC that I remotored with a Igarashi motor, its the only train in my roster that will pull 30 loaded cars without any wheel slippage. Incidently, the Igarashi motor is also the same motor that Broadway Limiteds use in all their locomotives. I used to think that Athearn produced a good motor until I had to order one from them, the Genesis line uses the same motor as Atlas, its a Roco motor.
Hi. Your Bachman Engines, are they the cheapo's with the front axles powered, or the standard 8 axle drive and pickup? Those cheap ones would go so fast, they would fly off the tracks!
Nope, my basement is a half mile wide. It is approximately 5 million square feet. I'm planning on opening a super wal*mart at one end of it, and will see how that goes.
@dafrandle , It depends on the engine. If the engine is really heavy, it could do it by itself, although the ones here are probly needed. Remember, it's only a 4 axle engine. A model Dash 9 could probly do it, but a model GP38-tough. Especially up hill. (In prototypical use, A GP38 has 2000 HP. A 30 car Consist isn't uncommon) Look up "CSX 8888." It was an unmanned train with a single SD40-2 (6 axle engine) pulling 47 cars with the brakes on at 15% for about 50 miles before it was stopped.
