A lot of what were told to want is cultural programming though. They aren't just trying to predict what people want. They're trying to tell us what we want. I think corporate culture fundamentally contradicts individualism too. You have to follow a rigid dress code, be careful about what you say, and the whole thing is run by a collective of investors. The fact the law recognizes a corporation as an individual just shows how convoluted the whole system is. True freedom is control over desire.
