best place for a cyclist? in front of you....the bus driver should have really seen the cycle lane ends and been aware what the cyclist would probably have done....i agree with fuzz944...very poor cycle lane design
Yet another awful piece of cycle lane design. Effectively you've just cycled off a pavement into the possibly left turning traffic with no ability to take control of that lane, let alone the fact it puts you in completely the wrong position for going straight on, allowing for the exact scenario that happened, to happen. Suggest you cycle on the road in the second lane in Primary in future, for your safety. I don't think the bus driver had much choice here, he was at speed in the correct lane.
I always take the right hand (straight ahead) lane going through here. That bike lane has looked crazy to me since I started riding around there four years ago. Never had any problems with drivers in all the times I've done it. That's not to blame you or even the bike lane for the bizarre behaviour of this bus driver though.
Hmm - got a bit of sympathy for the driver here as well.
It's looks like a junction shockingly badly designed for cyclists; designed to create accidents, and fails DoT standards (miserably).
Hey, I don't know it, but just from the video - going straight ahead like you wanted, I'd be looking at not using the cycle lane at all, but getting into the middle of the lane the bus is using? He may not like it (some don't), but tough, at least he knows where you're going?

Powered by cleaner electric hybrid technology, but driven by a wanker.

The bus may be green and clean..... but the driving standard is filthy!

Regardless of the bus driver's actions, and he should have waited behind you really, I'd be taking the lane through there.

tbh i dont think he was trying to ram you into the barrier, he was trying to get ahead and pull in so he didn't pinch you in.
