  • I absolutely loved the Dukes!!! almost more than XTC....wish they had done more!!!

  • Wow thanks! How I wish the Dukes had lasted longer!

  • XTC was Brilliant I wish They would Have made More Dukes albums This stuff is fantastic

  • In your face. Total, unadulterated Moulding brilliance.

  • I love the Dukes

  • "what in the world - ACID IS FREE?? - what in the world!!"

  • @greggo2 - the sleevenotes for the 2010 reissues suggest that the Stone Roses heard the Dukes and declared that Leckie was their man for the job.....

  • Ahh...high school...acid is free....

  • I'm amazed at how the Dukes were able to replicate that 60's psychedelic sound in the 80's.

  • I have this ep on vinyl: it still sounds fab. John Leckie did an excellent production job: I've always wondered whether this was the reason The Stone Roses tapped him to do their first album?

  • @Greggo2 Always thought much the same thing meself! Nice one!

  • @Greggo2 Yep, that's exactly why The Stones Roses asked John Leckie. They've said in interviews they got Leckie because of The Dukes of Stratosphear. Spot on!!!!!!

  • great

  • Short and sweet..In a word.........BRILLIANT!

  • This reminds me of "Only a Northern Song."

  • the musicians who did this "homage" to 60's attitudes and psychedelia are such good songwriters and musicians that they actually capture the feeling and atmosphere PERFECTLY.

  • @ants4rocket Agreed,this would've right there with the best -Fab 4 the Nice,Barret, Move,Family ....

  • No matter how old it gets....The Dukes lite up my darkest days...love that melotron!

  • How come this stereo? I am sure my original version was mono-as where other versions on the net? Am I wrong?

  • 20 32

    Ass wipe shocking blue...

  • I used to have this LP. It sounded awesome and had lovely cover. What happened to all my 80s vinyl?

  • This is just SOOO soo right!

  • My all-time favorite album! It was XTC's homage to 60's psychedelic rock. My understanding is all the sounds were done with vintage 60's equipment.

  • I have shroomed to this before...why dont they play this on the radio...they just replay the same boring stones songs n shit.

  • @justone234 I could give you a long drawn out answer BUT will simply say because the mainstream are mindless sheep that like Brittney Spears,Adam Lambert,Lady GaGa,etc.....

  • @justone234 I have the same problem- same two - three songs per band on playlist -- SUCKS! THERE'S SO MUCH MORE OUT THERE!

  • what a tune! still sounds as good today! wiltshire`s finest.

  • Thats True. i have tried it. it was emence with the eighth I bought of Goldencaps.

    only 35 L=

  • I love 60's psych & bought this album in 1986. Andy Partridge is a GENIUS.

  • Partridge is indeed a genius, but this is a Colin Moulding song - marvelous, innit?

  • i tried this method with some friends once, and it was the most intense shroom experience i've had yet.

unfortunately i was late arriving, as my friends were leveling while i was still peaking. lol, was still a great time, in my mind anyhow.

  • Shit, I'd love to try that!

  • what you can make that?! i love to drink tea but i didnt think that you can make a shroom tea.

  • Thanks! Love Dukes

  • vibrations coming my way.......cool p3ter.

  • i love psychodelic tunes and this lot are soooo groovy man

  • dam i fucking love this song so much! at first when i listen to it i was like " its okay =l" but idk thats what happens to a lot of xtc songs. at first i kinda like them but then i just cant stop going to the vid to listen to the song.

  • Oh I got it now, Jason played with the Dukes of Silverlake(a "spoof" most likely) who apparently performed this EP in it's Entirety. Not so strange anymore.

  • This is weird stuff I don't even remember why I thought that only that I vaguely remember Jason being referenced to them, maybe just a mix up, other wise how the hell did I land here to begin with..LOL! Let's get this straight, they are called 25 O'clock... oh how weird! Jason was in a band in the late 80's called The Three O'clock.. then later in Jellyfish.

  • Is Jason Falkner in this band?.. and what instrument is he playing? Doesn't really sound like him on bass? JMO. Though it could acually be.

  • nah - not at all. It's XTC in disguise; Andy Partridge on Guitar keyboards and (and glasses), Colin Moulding on bass and lead vocals, Dave Gregory on 2nd guitar, and Dave's brother (don't remember his first name) I guess playing more guitar? (The last guy isn't in XTC).

No Jason Falkner here! What band is he from? (I know the name.)

  • @RevSpike Dave's brother Ian (using the alias E.I.E.I. Owen) played drums on all of the Dukes tunes.

  • interesante flashback, con sabor beatles por cierto, es cierto; buen clipart thank you!!

  • close your eyes and its the beatles lol

great tune, and its flying, blue jay way, i'm the walrus in one :D

  • Yes, and the "Wonderwall" movie too!

  • Too cool, thanks for posting this!

  • man i love this song...this whole album... stands the test of time...still in my all time favourite top ten!

  • Landmark Retro CD , I bought it when people bought CD's. What a well thought out mix. listen Lou. Kentucky USA

  • Hell, I have the album on vinyl. Also the CD. Both Dukes discs are being re-released april 14th with expanded set lists.

I love the Dukes and XTC

  • Nice work, p3terpsych!

  • What in the world, acid is free...

I hope i live until that day;):(

  • LSD for you......and me!

  • Me parents always warned me about drugs!

  • Thee hee

  • genius stuff. i bought this record in high school.

  • Unbelievable retro masterpiece - the Beatles / Elevators & Pink Floyd in disguise (on acid).

    Thankyou XTC

  • Ooh nice flowing visual effect at the end

  • XTC's finest.

  • You did a great job on this thanks!

  • excellent what else can i say

  • Nice one mate. I was 15 when this came out - loved it from the start. Glad to see someone else has fond memories of some decent times in the 80's (we were few - lets face it - but we survive) Cheers for the post.

    ~Brainiac's Daughter

  • Hi Ron! Thanks for your comment. The truth is that the video came out pretty badly and it's because YouTube is a limited capacity to the quality of the videos. And I fear that we have too many loaded with psychedelic effects, that is why it is so bad. In fact, just out of the "factory" the video looks great in any player's computer. Greetings.

  • Terrific video. -Ron
