I have this ep on vinyl: it still sounds fab. John Leckie did an excellent production job: I've always wondered whether this was the reason The Stone Roses tapped him to do their first album?
@Greggo2 Yep, that's exactly why The Stones Roses asked John Leckie. They've said in interviews they got Leckie because of The Dukes of Stratosphear. Spot on!!!!!!
the musicians who did this "homage" to 60's attitudes and psychedelia are such good songwriters and musicians that they actually capture the feeling and atmosphere PERFECTLY.
@justone234 I could give you a long drawn out answer BUT will simply say because the mainstream are mindless sheep that like Brittney Spears,Adam Lambert,Lady GaGa,etc.....
dam i fucking love this song so much! at first when i listen to it i was like " its okay =l" but idk thats what happens to a lot of xtc songs. at first i kinda like them but then i just cant stop going to the vid to listen to the song.
Oh I got it now, Jason played with the Dukes of Silverlake(a "spoof" most likely) who apparently performed this EP in it's Entirety. Not so strange anymore.
This is weird stuff I don't even remember why I thought that only that I vaguely remember Jason being referenced to them, maybe just a mix up, other wise how the hell did I land here to begin with..LOL! Let's get this straight, they are called 25 O'clock... oh how weird! Jason was in a band in the late 80's called The Three O'clock.. then later in Jellyfish.
nah - not at all. It's XTC in disguise; Andy Partridge on Guitar keyboards and (and glasses), Colin Moulding on bass and lead vocals, Dave Gregory on 2nd guitar, and Dave's brother (don't remember his first name) I guess playing more guitar? (The last guy isn't in XTC).
No Jason Falkner here! What band is he from? (I know the name.)
Nice one mate. I was 15 when this came out - loved it from the start. Glad to see someone else has fond memories of some decent times in the 80's (we were few - lets face it - but we survive) Cheers for the post.
Hi Ron! Thanks for your comment. The truth is that the video came out pretty badly and it's because YouTube is a limited capacity to the quality of the videos. And I fear that we have too many loaded with psychedelic effects, that is why it is so bad. In fact, just out of the "factory" the video looks great in any player's computer. Greetings.

@greggo2 - the sleevenotes for the 2010 reissues suggest that the Stone Roses heard the Dukes and declared that Leckie was their man for the job.....

I'm amazed at how the Dukes were able to replicate that 60's psychedelic sound in the 80's.

My all-time favorite album! It was XTC's homage to 60's psychedelic rock. My understanding is all the sounds were done with vintage 60's equipment.

i tried this method with some friends once, and it was the most intense shroom experience i've had yet.
unfortunately i was late arriving, as my friends were leveling while i was still peaking. lol, was still a great time, in my mind anyhow.

@RevSpike Dave's brother Ian (using the alias E.I.E.I. Owen) played drums on all of the Dukes tunes.
