The first 3 states to ratify the Constitution WERE NORTHERN, then Georgia, THEN 3 MORE NORTHERN STATES, then the other 6 States both North and South ratified it. The South DID CARE About States Rights, infact they cared so much that many southern delegates argued in favor of a limited government to protect these rights (James Madison is a famous one). As where Federalists like John Jay from New York argued for large government.

I'm glad you brought up Forrest. A Yankee-Run Congressional investigation in 1871 deemed that Forrest's only involvement in the Klan was to urge it to disband. The first 3 years of the Klan actually tried to peacefully urge blacks to vote for democratic candidates, when that failed the Klan resorted to violence against blacks to coerce them and with that Forrest left. The allegations at Ft. Pillow are unproven, and Forrest also had over 300 blacks present at his funeral.

Exactly.... you were implying that the FSA limited the power of the Southern states. However, it didn't it actually expanded the rights they had to retrieve what they perceived as their property. The FSA punished the states and government officials who refused to follow the actual laws incorporated into the Consitution didn't they? Personally I believe all people are created equally. I do not believe one race superior over another. I simply used the analogy to add emphasis.

The NORTH rallied delegates to the constitutional convention. The first 3 states to ratify the Constitution WERE NORTHERN, then Georgia, THEN 3 MORE NORTHERN STATES, then the other 6 States both North and South ratified it. The South DID CARE About States Rights, infact they cared so much that many southern delegates argued in favor of a limited government to protect these rights (James Madison is a famous one). As where Federalists like John Jay from New York argued for large government.

Our flag, if anything, does not have enough stars on it. This flag represents freedom from oppressive government. Such as a Federal government that oppressed the Maryland State Legislature's right to vote on secession and suspended their constitutional right of habius corpus. Although they were not formally allowed to seceede because of oppressive government, they furnished many soldiers to the Confederacy. Missouri and Kentucky were also not allowed to formally seceede.

The oppressive government that ran a Northern dominated all 3 branches of the government Executive, Judicial, and Legislative. The South had truly lost their voice when Lincoln was elected. The war was over the Morrill Tarriff which the South paid 80% of an only saw 15% of the benefit. The National highway was paid by this tarriff and was built across ALL NORTHERN STATES. Also, those states DID NOT furnish more people to the Union and the ELECTED OFFICIALS WERE PRO CONFEDERATE.

Actually we prefer historian. The war was about economics and all wars are about money and always will be. The army did not come down to protect blacks in the South, the army came down to occupy a conquered people, much like the US occupied Germany and Japan after WW2. Also, many politicians after the war elected in the South were Republican Northern sympathizers or Carpet baggers and are to blame for many of the laws enacted against blacks. We all know how the Yankees used them during the war.

I hate to bicker, but South Carolina threatened to secede in 1828, well before slavery was a huge issue. They, as well as many other southerners, felt that the the northern voting majority trampled southern interests (see Tariff of Abominations) And of course they felt threatened. Lincoln was a hypocrite who wanted freed slaves to remain where they were and not come North, nor be equal to whites in any way.
