I like some of Evanescence's songs including this one, and yes, I've heard and loved lacrimosa before I heard this cover. It's a COVER, they don't attempt to make it as good as the original thing. Apparently the lacrimosa lyrics and music fit whatever concept they have behind this song, no need to become so violent like some of the posts below. I would have been fine with that song, except she dubbed the greatest song of all time. Nothing against her beautiful voice, it just takes away from what Lacrimosa was about. The song was not meant to be remade or finished. I really wish she just left Mozart's final piece out of it.

Which he did, after Mozart died before Mozart himself could finish the entire Requiem. However, after Mozart died, and before the composer, who's name i can not recall, one of Mozart's top students finished the Requiem.

I've no problem usually with people using other peoples songs as samples. But the problem here is that as a song the goodness so to speak is 99.9999% from the genius of mozart. When I saw this I thought maybe evanescence had written her own Lacrimosa, maybe even her own entire requiem. No I think he would appeciate because his work is being appreciated. It already means a lot that Amy Lee and the band members had the intention to use Lacrimosa and been inspired by it. I've no problem usually with people using other peoples songs as samples. But the problem here is that as a song the goodness so to speak is 99.9999% from the genius of mozart. When I saw this I thought maybe evanescence had written her own Lacrimosa, maybe even her own entire requiem. It's an interesting idea its just that evanescence(who I have a lot of time for incidentally) has comparatively no talent when put next to mozart, vulgar little shit though he was. Just my opinion.

I almost agreed with you....until the vulgar little shit part. Amadeus wasn't a real rendition of his life, you know. He had his quirks, but it was never shown in public. Anyways, I dont mind that Evanescence used this song. It's obviously in appreciation to the greatest composer of all time. My issue is with the milk commercial that totally desecrated Beethoven's 9th. Anyways, Mozart owned. lol

Point taken, good film though. And I agree with you that there's no problem really with her sampling the piece. But how can I put this. On a sliding scale of comparative genius this is like me taking Stairway to Heaven, cutting it in half, swapping the two halves around and claiming it as my own original work. If you catch my drift. I do bow to your superior knowledge of Mozart though. Peace and McLove XD

No I think he would appeciate because his work is being appreciated. It already means a lot that Amy Lee and the band members had the intention to use Lacrimosa and been inspired by it. You don't have to think that it's fucked. No way..!! It's her own vision but what really matters is that she loves doing it because it is fucking Lacrimosa and believe me it means a lot to Amy Lee for sure and she probably had the goosebumps writing this song and respects its origin.
