  • im trying to get a hard top for mine with a glass back window but im having a really hard time. where did you get yours?

  • @jjcoia76818

got mine from a forum member. its a hard dog M2 sport, double diagonal.

  • Sweet roll bar,, U

  • @101nerfmasters

thanks man. i no longer have the bar or the car for that matter. i've upgraded to the second gen miata.

  • Question: does the soft top stay installed in the car even when the hard top is on? What if you're out somewhere and are driving with the hard top but have no place to put it when traveling? Or does the hard top require removal of the soft top? Thanks!

  • @andy957

soft top stays in the car. if you are traveling and need to take the top off, youre SOL.

  • @hugoballs thanks. that's what I thought. :)

  • FRP-TOP?or GLASS-TOP?

  • @b6zet

im not sure i understand what youre asking, but the soft top was a glass window and the hard top is fiberglass with a glass rear window.

  • @hugoballs I think he was asking what's the top made of fibre glass or FRP?

  • @b6zet

the hard top is a fiberglass material. its more like the plastic/fiberglass that you'd normally find on boats. the soft top has a glass rear window.

  • Buddyclub p1s! nice

  • @stan69r

thanks! but theyre kosei , not buddyclubs.

  • any idea on the weight of the hardtop?

  • @shinesinpines

    40lbs or so

  • i LOVE to fart in my na6 with the hardtop on.... it feels sooo good coming out on my sparco seats!!!!

  • What's it made of?

  • fiberglass. its the same material as the hull of some boats.

  • can ppl pull off the hard top and steal it? How safe is it.....thinking of getting a miata but im afraid of damn thieves...

  • you see how easy it was to take off? imagine that happening without your consent. theres your answer. you can always buy the Toploc for it, which in my opinion would render it nearly unsteal-able but nothing is 100% true.

  • @tenkuunokage think of this...the miata is considered a girls car, the parts on it aren't very profitable nor are they sought after. Thieves want money, so why waste there time on a car that's not sought after. They'd rather steal a Honda S2000 then a miata. An engine for a miata bout a grand, a s2000 about 5 grand.

  • @mysticalmagick: actually the engine is worth about $500. parts are even cheaper haha. however the hard top is one of the most sought after parts for this car and can fetch about $1000 on the black market.

  • @hugoballs ok my bad i was $500 off lol haha black market. Yea but how many miata's do you see everyday with a hard top. Me uhh none lol

  • @mysticalmagick : depends on where you live. here in the SF Bay Area, there are quite a few of them running around, stock and modified.

  • @hugoballs yea, here in northeast Mississippi, there aren't any.

  • @tenkuunokage First off, I have a Miata and park it topless all the time - I've never had anyone tamper with it. You can lock every compartment in the car. And secondly, as long as the windows are up it's not possible to steal the hard top. You have to unclip it which requires access to the cabin. It's as good as a coupe with the hard top on. I wouldn't worry about it.

  • @TwelfthToaster

not to completely contradict you but here in SF, smash and grabs are quite common so having the windows up really isnt much defense. however, its better then leaving your windows down for sure.

  • What roll bar is that and does it clear the glass window on soft tops?

  • its an Autopower street bar. yes, it will clear a glass rear window.

  • I was just reading on goodwinracing's website. it says this bar WON'T fit with glass window soft tops. But u have no problem with it ?

  • no problems with it at all. i had it installed with a glass window before i sold the bar.

  • what are teh hardtops made out of? about how heavy is it? im buying a NA6 miata soon, but all they have around here are verts so ill be buying a hard top

  • fiberglass, about 30lbs?

  • Excellent ! I admire single handed willingness to attack this problem and solve it like a pro!!AAA+++

  • i am getting my h-t this week but i wonder how the clamps near the seatbelt works??

  • I personally feel that theyre pretty important to have if you dont like wind noise. they help to clamp down the mid section and give it a better seal all around.

  • i'm looking forward to buy a miata now i'm glad to see it's quite easy to remove the hardtop =D thanx for the video

  • cool. if you do, then welcome to the family. yeah its really simple once you get used to bracing with your legs when you pull it off and put it back on.

  • this is the only video on youtube on how to place a hardtop on and out... weird...

  • yeah i know. thats why i made it. haha

  • Good work. I'm about to go try this myself. The guy I bought it from had these little rubber pads that you put between the chrome tabs on the back of the hardtop. Is that necessary?

  • its not necessary, but it does help cushion the HT where the chrome latch mates to the frankie bolts.

  • Show a detailed soft top change out and you will be my hero.

  • haha ive already tossed my soft top so that wont happen. but ill see what i can do.

  • Have you seen the concept for the miata coupe? I hope they make it, as far as the top goes... great, muscular than most =)

  • thanks a lot for this vid !
