Blacks raised in privileged environments with educated parents are no more or less criminally active than whites with the same background. However blacks with a background rooted in poverty have just as much a chance at criminal behavior as whites with the same background. This may sound like a cop out, but your new york times ref is insufficient.

The truth is, you can't compare blacks to any other race because no other race shares their history. Even Jews came to this country and simply changed their last names. as terrible as it is to have to say here in 2011, it's been proven studies after studies, observing behavior, obvious statistics of crimes etc that african americans simply do not have the capacity overall to refrain from violent crime. While few do refrain and are productive members, their #s are simply drowned by the overwhelming # of those that continue to fail soceity. They simply chose a way of life that is not cohesive with the rest of soceity and we must fight back
