well on a 1 - 10 scale i would give it a 8 or 9 i mean it's cool, everytime you die it gives a different segment in the story and the characters are strange which is another thing i like but yea i would recommend it, lol my friend doesn't even know how to use the weapons on Baroque and some of my friends say its for emo people but they don't like the stuff that we like, cause they're preps (not going to explain)

So if you have the patience and mental capacity to be able to play and understand this game, these of which are extremely rare traits in the common american gamer, then you will find that depth and you'll see how epic it really is.

Baroque is an extremely intense and very suspenseful RPG that's deep and epic. Although a tad confusing, relative to the anime Evangelion, the story gets pieced together as you venture deeper inside the Neuro Tower. This game is SO unique that it's incomparable to any other RPG out today. So for everyone I'd recommend starting on Easy mode because

if you didnt already go through the training dungeon then ya(the dungeon is on the right side of the map just past the bagged one. a guy with a coffin on his back is standing in front of it)you dont have to do through the training dungeon but you get a basic sword, basic coat, 1 antidote, 4 warp bones, and a heart with little work (they realy help)
This game honestly, is disgustingly bad. You start off, and nothing happens, they don't tell you the storyline, they don't tell you what to do. YOu're just there, and they give you a gun, with FOUR SHOTS, and you're supposed to go and fight these damn things. I played it for 10 minutes.

The key point of the game to progress is to die to find out more of what's going on at certain points. Levels in this game basically don't matter, so.
Also, for those who are getting the wrong idea = Megaten made the SMT, Persona, Devil summoner and etc. Series as Sting made this and stuff like Riviera and Yggdra Union.
Don't get them mixed up. This game is pretty similar and dark to SMT games, but it's not one of them if that's what you're wanting to see.

this game is actually pretty good i'm a hardcore rpg gamer and roguelike games like baroque fits in my category. i'm kind of disappointed of it's reviews, but thats because the reviewer was geared towards general audiences not just rouglike fans. Yeah, old-fashioned (or should I say, narrow-minded?...no, this term is too ofensive =x) gamers that like only these kind of RPGs (like FF*insert a number*) only see goodness on games that your only goal is to kill monster, read tons of dialogues, and walk through dungeons. When people create new kinds of games (not exactly create...they are just trying to be different), they usually say "AHHHHH!!!! But that's bad! IT IS DIFFERENT!!!". I love Sting because of that, they create different games.
Like Riviera. It is quite an old game (as all Sting's games) that is being remade, but their style is completely different. In Riviera u have so many stuff to do. Not only boring (there are boring stuff to do,I know), but intuitive, like "Press B, A, ^, v to not get caugh by the bolder that is ready to kill u". Usually in games the characters do those stuff by themselves which is killing the gameplay.
Ending this (I talk too much), Baroque is cool and have a good story. Prepare to play alot.
Riviera IS a remake... Riviera was first done to Wonderswan Color (I think this is the name). It was remade for GBA and then for PSP. PSP version is the best possible (look at the WC color...it is terrible hahah)
Also Yggdra Union is remake. I forgot what was the first console, but I know it is. Baroque is a remake. I don't remember any more games, but they are awesome!
It's not so much that, but more of the fact that this is a roguelike game. (I believe that's what they're called.) These kind of games are more hard that the norm and are usually looked at as bad because of how much they punish you if you mess up.
The reason older gamers like this is because, well, in the old RPGs, it wasn't easy as it is now and very much so being hard. These are pretty much in that same standard. For another good little roguelike game, check out Izuna for the DS.
Oh, sorry, maybe because of my english you got me wrong! What I mean is those gamers who only play FF*insert number* and stuff. I was saying that, when people create something new (harder, by chance), people dislike it because they have difficulty to adapt. And I loved Izuna! =D I need to buy one for me too! @Isaac - Yeah, I agree. I'm honestly tired of easy RPGs, seriously. I like them for their plots and such, but thats as far as it goes. Atlus has really been putting the "umph" back into the RPGs with hard bosses and such. I'd like to see more of that and more Tri-Ace games.
I got this game yesterday. Its pretty nice! Although, be warned, its definitely not for everyone (especially not new gamers because you will have a hard and frustrating time with this game since its made for a crowd thats more adept at games).
Persona 3?? HELL NO!! If you like a good story board, and isn't afraid to try new things from an average RPG, than Persona 3 is it!! =D I should know, I have the game.

Thats the voice actor from Ghost in the Shell (at least from S.A.C.) I likes her voice. If this is Shin Meg Tensei game I will probably not play it. His games are just moster killing games that get old. Likewise if it's a PSO knock off.
Another awesome title from atlus and its for the wii. im glad theyre gonna be getting a good staple of rpg's for the system since thats what the gamecube lacked alot of. cant wait til this comes out

Well .. the voice actor who did Cornelia is Mary Elizabeth something and she is credited for voice-acting one character (Eliza) in Baroque.

first off the gun has five bullets(you can get ten more if you use the storage trick my brother found out.)
secondly its called SUSPENSE.
while going through the game you can find hidden cutscenes that help explain a little more("do you remember the scar?")
third they clearly lable time and time again GO TO THE NERO TOWER, FIND WEAPONS, GET TO THE BOTTOM.

When people create new kinds of games (not exactly create...they are just trying to be different), they usually say "AHHHHH!!!! But that's bad! IT IS DIFFERENT!!!". I love Sting because of that, they create different games.

Like Riviera. It is quite an old game (as all Sting's games) that is being remade, but their style is completely different. In Riviera u have so many stuff to do. Not only boring (there are boring stuff to do,I know), but intuitive, like "Press B, A, ^, v to not get caugh by the bolder that is ready to kill u". Usually in games the characters do those stuff by themselves which is killing the gameplay.
Ending this (I talk too much), Baroque is cool and have a good story. Prepare to play alot.

Riviera IS a remake... Riviera was first done to Wonderswan Color (I think this is the name). It was remade for GBA and then for PSP. PSP version is the best possible (look at the WC color...it is terrible hahah)
Also Yggdra Union is remake. I forgot what was the first console, but I know it is. Baroque is a remake. I don't remember any more games, but they are awesome!

It's not so much that, but more of the fact that this is a roguelike game. (I believe that's what they're called.) These kind of games are more hard that the norm and are usually looked at as bad because of how much they punish you if you mess up.
The reason older gamers like this is because, well, in the old RPGs, it wasn't easy as it is now and very much so being hard. These are pretty much in that same standard. For another good little roguelike game, check out Izuna for the DS.

Oh, sorry, maybe because of my english you got me wrong! What I mean is those gamers who only play FF*insert number* and stuff. I was saying that, when people create something new (harder, by chance), people dislike it because they have difficulty to adapt. And I loved Izuna! =D I need to buy one for me too! Baroque is a game that requires patience, good stomach, good administration of items, and love for equipments (his robes are cool!).If u can't appreciate those...

@Isaac - Yeah, I agree. I'm honestly tired of easy RPGs, seriously. I like them for their plots and such, but thats as far as it goes. Atlus has really been putting the "umph" back into the RPGs with hard bosses and such. I'd like to see more of that and more Tri-Ace games.

I got this game yesterday. Its pretty nice! Although, be warned, its definitely not for everyone (especially not new gamers because you will have a hard and frustrating time with this game since its made for a crowd thats more adept at games).

Thats the voice actor from Ghost in the Shell (at least from S.A.C.) I likes her voice. If this is Shin Meg Tensei game I will probably not play it. His games are just moster killing games that get old. Likewise if it's a PSO knock off.
